Snow watch!

I know it will seem quite crackers to start this when the weekend has been so lovely, but we are starting to get some model consistency on GFS for the potential for snow Friday night into Saturday as a northerly plunge looks set to take place.

Primary risk areas are obviously for hillier parts of Scotland and also Wales, but higher ground in the south and south east including over dartmoor and down the east coast may also see some sleet or wet snow.

Alternating between wet snow and sleet here just west of Manchester. Settling slightly during snowy periods!

Just heard it's snowing at Membury Services M4 (J15-14). So snow band seems to be heading east, wonder how far it will get and how far south.

I hope we have no snow and ice tonight, I've got to bury a small furry friend when I get home from work.

Overcast here. According to the metoffice we've got rain first, turning to heavy snow 4-6pm.

Met Office now saying heavy snow for us at 6! We’re in south Surrey.

Loving the live snow updates. Is it earlier than we think? I assumed it wouldn’t settle so interesting it is near Oxford. I’m 30 mins down the M40 from there and trying to work out whether to go out in the car at 4.30 or not. We have rain here!

Yikes, switched to snow here and that wasn’t forecast until 4pm (S.Bucks). Now to see if it will settle...

Still snowing heavily here in Oxon. I went on the nursery and school run in the rain, it started sleeting, then turned to some of the largest snow flakes I've ever seen. I'm very rural and by the time I got home I couldn't safely turn into our lane, it had settles so heavily, so had to walk and then trudge with kids in too-thin coats and no gloves.

We had a heavy sleety shower that was more snow than rain, about 15 mins ago. Got blue sky back again now

Oxford here too, agree about the enormous snowflakes! Had one lot around 2 that didn't quite settle, then about half an hour ago it set in properly. It's eased off at the moment but looks like it may be on and off for a while. Have taken photo to share with my mother suffering Sydney heatwave!

We had some very wet sleet here in north Wiltshire around 1pm, certainly nothing much, and it's been quite bright since although is starting to cloud over now. Blooming cold wind too!

Snowing here in s yorks. It's very wet, sloppy snow though. Not quite sleet but only just snow. It's pretty heavy too. And feels a lot colder than the 5 degrees my car says it is.

We were forecast snow 90 minutes ago but nothing yet thank goodness as I've got to work late.

Nasty wet snow now falling near the Thames in Surrey. I hope it turns into nice fluffy settled snow later.

It’s chaos here. I’m thinking the met office forecast under cooked this. We were only forecast sleet for an hour at 4 ish. There’s pretty heavy snow now settling across the Chilterns and traffic is at a standstill. We only had an ice warning from the met office. None for snow!
