I'm really worried about tomorrow .
West Sussex .
Hate this.
Have awful anxiety :*

JillJ72 · 26/02/2018 19:57

North Bucks here. Glacial outside. We had polystyrene balls and then proper flakes a while later. The ground is now dusted with white.

Gertrudethestag · 26/02/2018 19:59

stubbornstains oooh! Piratefm said it was snowing near Helston earlier & I didnt believe them! I'm near Penryn and we had a few flakes but it was very light. It was like polystyrene balls falling on the shed roof. Really cool.

Really fancying Aiden McGiverns serious face at the moment Wink Brew

explodingkittens · 26/02/2018 19:59

Another few flakes here here on the London/Surrey border but nothing exciting. It's flippin' cold though.

blueskyinmarch · 26/02/2018 20:03

Everyone is on tenterhooks. I bet it will come to nothing!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 20:09

polystyrene balls are called grauple :) they are hybrid forms - supercooled droplets forming on snowflakes.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 20:09

graupel not grauple, silly autocorrect.

gttia · 26/02/2018 20:19

I'm nhs in Kent and we've had the emergency warning from the council. Never heard that either! It is snowing lightly now and very cold.

Finally snowing here in northern E Sussex and sticking. Need to get to London tomorrow so hoping Southeastern trains sort themselves out pdq.

GrockleBocs · 26/02/2018 20:28

Dd has an activity tomorrow and will be outside in sub zero temperatures. I know she'll be wrapped up but I'm hoping we get enough snow to make it be cancelled!

WazFlimFlam · 26/02/2018 20:29

Machinebee were you caught up in Southeasterns general fuck abouttery today? I mean ffs, the train I got out of Charing X was like the last chopper out of Saigon.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 20:30

ok, quick summary of the forecast as things stand:

Tonight snow showers, some heavy in a line roughly Thames estuary to worthing. Also East Yorkshire down through, norfolk and extending inland

Tuesday - by morning heavy snow around thames estuary, norfolk, and then a big swathe including north wales, across the north of England and into Scotland, especially in the east, but also in central parts. Gently fizzling out I think as we go through the day.
Just as today, other places may well see snow showers too.

Wednesday: main risk areas tend to be through the midlands upwards.

Thursday at some yet to be determined time in the afternoon/evening or night a pulse of heavy snow moves up from the SW. It seems that this may stay quite well west. (I seem to be losing my snow :( )

Friday - it really depends on what happens on Thursday! Frankly I'm getting less confident rather than more confident on this, so I'll come back tomorrow on this one.

Thanks OYBBK - do you think we'll get any East Surrey/Croydon boundary? We are in the amber warning area still.

nannynick · 26/02/2018 20:35

Snowed a lot this morning near Reigate but stopped by the time I drove home from work, so that was good as I was not looking forward to driving on snow. Then started to snow as I arrived home (Surrey/Berkshire border). Currently a light dusting on the pavement but I expect tomorrow morning may be another matter all together - is overnight snow still forecast for Surrey/Berks?

stubbornstains · 26/02/2018 20:36

Hmmm....

BBC has updated Wednesday's "light" snow to "heavy" for us in W. Cornwall. Also a possibility of the odd snow shower tonight and tomorrow. On Thursday it's going to start off snowy, then as Storm Emma comes up from the SW, the temperature's going to rise and it will turn into rain.

(so the Beeb says. )

BestIsWest · 26/02/2018 20:50

Met office have upgraded us in South Wales to 50% chance of snow from 5% for tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2018 20:52

I do Titsy.

Nanny nick I don't think you will get much.

Who has called it Storm Emma? The met office only name storms with wind strengths that warrant an amber warning.

DisabledUserName · 26/02/2018 20:55

The Sun and others of a similar ilk have apparently picked up 'storm emma' which the Portuguese met office have named it!
Apparently it will hit the uk on Wednesday and bring death and despair Hmm.

FoodSchmood · 26/02/2018 21:02

We have snow in Hove! Finally!! It's sticking! So, so happy! I know not everyone likes the snow, but my nearly 6 year old was 10 months old the last time the snow stuck properly and he's desperate to make a snowman. As is my 3 year old (who has never seen proper snow). As am I...

Andbabymakesthree · 26/02/2018 21:08

So much conflicting info out there in media. I only trust you! Should I be worried here in Cornwall?

MachineBee · 26/02/2018 21:08

WazFlimFlam thankfully not on trains today. Tomorrow is a special day for my DD and has been arranged for quite a while and can’t be changed. I just hope things will have sorted themselves out by mid-morning so I can travel.

SnowiestMountain · 26/02/2018 21:16

Oh please let it be called 'Storm Emma' Wink

GloriaSmud · 26/02/2018 21:17

The BBC have a useful summary here of everything (including train travel) that's been affected by the weather.
