US (and other places) Hurricane season

It's very belated I know, I've been discussing the various hurricanes in another thread in the time I have recently, but anyway, better late than never. From t'other thread:

www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at1+shtml/054806.shtml?cone#contents Irma at the moment looks like it's going to slide into the Gulf of Mexico, grazing the west side of Florida. However, the GFS model has it turning earlier, so there is some uncertainty still. (as there often is)

Jose is expected to become a Hurricane over night tonight, but I don't think it will be as major as Irma due to outflow from Irma effectively choking it. However, depending on the path it takes it could still compound misery.

I'm more worried about the various Islands that Irma is traveling over rather than the potential for a US landfall, simply because they have the means to evacuate and more resources. They are going to be completely devastated. Though Branson is riding Irma out on Necker Island.

Turns out resurrected Lee is just called Lee. Cat 1 Hurricane.

Nate is now a Cat 1 Hurricane.

Both have got worse since I checked this morning. It was orange and 40% chance. Now red and 60%. Nate was still a storm.

It looks like Nate will hit as a Cat 2.

another swirly wind pattern has appeared between the now up to 70% chance disturbance 1 and nate. and a loopy humpy bit. (oh so technical me further south. ) hopefully they will come to nothing...

does this work?

I think they’d be flagging it if it were potentially an issue, it will be interesting to see what happens next...

i just get mesmerised by all those swirly winds. not got any knowledge at all about the tropical weather but interesed to see the patterns.

It is mesmerising! would look great projected on to the ceiling at night time!

The tabloids have got a bad case of hurricane envy and are plastering scary uncontextualised images of Ophelia all over their front page. Ireland is definitely looking like it’s in for a rough time on Sunday night though.
