So r4 reports the environment agency as saying for this afternoon right down the east coast to Essex. Just eating my breakfast so will dig out the relevant info in a little bit.

I know, Jayne. I'm just so thankful.

My DF kept his feet dry, too. Thank you, thank you, coastal defences.

mrsdevere DH knows him as he works in one of the other pubs in town. He was told by the insurance company he had to do all he could to protect the pub contents or they wouldn't pay out.

Kessingland is fine thankfully, we are preparing for the Christmas light switch on in Southwold need to wrap up. Smile

liquidstate · 06/12/2013 16:48

Jayne Cromer's Starvin Marvins was swept out to sea.

Feel so sorry for all the small business owners out there who have suffered losses and will continue to miss out on the Christmas trade.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 06/12/2013 17:14

I did wonder Liquid, thanks for letting me know. Such a shame.

Summerblaze · 06/12/2013 19:20

Hull here too and had to help various friends and family get there stuff up to a higher level. One of my friends house has had the whole bottom floor of her house ruined.

DH took 1.5 hours to get to work (not far) as everywhere was gridlocked due to the A63 being closed. Just pleased everyone is safe.

liquidstate · 06/12/2013 20:14

We have seen a picture of the family beach hut in Cromer now - doors were knocked out and all contents swept out to sea Sad. The rocks inside are bigger than footballs so it shows what a pounding the seafront took.

Reading this thread I didn't realise here were any mnetters that close to me :). Live in Lowestoft and work in Norfolk. Nightmare journey to work this morning with the main access route through town closed off..
Horrendous pictures of places flooding last night... Two more high tides to go..

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 06/12/2013 21:57

Saw the A12 at Blythburgh this morning and the marsh water just went right across where the road should be. Road closed, indefinitely.

Did anyone see that poor woman from Hemsby on the One show? David Whitley was with her when she went back to her cliff top home and it was going over the edge. She was crying on national television and he said 'How does it feel? You must be devastated'.

No shit Sherlock. Hmm

What was lovely was the villagers rallying round to save her belongings before it disappeared over the edge. They went back this morning and most of her house was sitting on the beach. Poor bloody woman.

Ilovemydog... Have all the new willow fences that they just put in gone at blythburgh? Such a waste of money if they have although they were pretty unsightly!

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 06/12/2013 22:06

I know and no insurance, just £6000 from the government.
Watch that community spring into action

mymatemax · 06/12/2013 22:51

Oh Worley, those bloody willow fences have been blowing over since they put them up. Snape has been badly hit.
The Crown severely flooded & their Turkeys etc died. They managed to evacuate the other livestock.
Such a shame they work so hard.
Thankfully no injuries or loss of human life

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 06/12/2013 22:56

That's what I thought Jayne. There'll be a huge collection. Bloody useless insurance. Doesn't seem fair does it? I'm sure she didn't buy it when it was teetering over the edge. What the bloody hell is £6,000 going to buy? She should get the payout of the policy she signed up for.

Worley most of the fence is still there unfortunately. Got some more gaps in it but that's about it.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 06/12/2013 23:14

They're now showing that poor family from Hemsby on the BBC news channel again. Poor buggers.
