So r4 reports the environment agency as saying for this afternoon right down the east coast to Essex. Just eating my breakfast so will dig out the relevant info in a little bit.

Just been on fb again and have seen that station square in Lowestoft is completely under water

TigerFeet · 06/12/2013 00:16

I'm in Boston. The town centre has flooded but it would appear that a lot of the water has gone now. tammytwigg you may be ok as dh was out tonight and he said the traffic was being directed up Strait Bargate to avoid flooded roads elsewhere.

No idea if I'll be able to get to work tomorrow, work in Spalding and have dcs at school and cm's. A couple of mates have had water in their houses but thankfully we've been ok.

TidalSurgeWorries · 06/12/2013 00:18

Lowestoft looks bad! have you seen the pic of the train/lowestoft stn it looks like a canal.

Whereisegg · 06/12/2013 00:29

I'm close to Boston too.
Awful pictures on my fb, but the most wonderful posts of people arranging to meet up tomorrow to help and groups set up for donations.

Mylittlepotofjoy · 06/12/2013 02:35

We have been evacuated out of boston with7 dogs!!!!! House is a mess when I went back we are in the town centre of boston :(

ChubbyKitty · 06/12/2013 02:47

I have two uncles in Boston, the one who is on fb posted some pictures of the town centre. It looks awful:/ hope everyone is okay. And my friends mum is by the coast and we're both worried about her!

Rooners · 06/12/2013 06:24

Does anyone know how we did in Kent?

I can't find much on the news so far. I hope things didn't turn out so bad.

WRT standing watching - I can understand that. Unless they are putting themselves directly in danger which is of course stupid - I mean, I get the motivation.

I think it's a defence - to want to be in control by watching what is happening, I know if it were near to me I would not be able to sleep or stay away from the windows.

Obviously making more work for the overstretched services is stupid and thoughtless but I can see why people want to keep an eye on it.

OneMoreThenNoMore · 06/12/2013 06:27

Hope everyone stayed safe overnight.

Humberside police have announced on fb that the A63 is closed in both directions until at least noon today- right from the Humber bridge roundabout down to Mount Pleasant Shock. They posted a pic of the tidal barrier last night; it saved the city by what looks like about a foot. Really worrying given that there's another high tide due this morning.

My dh has just gone out with the dog; high tide here is at 6.30 so he's going to have a peek- from a safe distance, obviously...

rach89 · 06/12/2013 07:06

We are in hull and there have been some Severe floods. We are on a critical warning for high tide this morning. Panicking like mad, DH working away and I'm on my own with the kids!

caz1010 · 06/12/2013 07:24

Rach89 I have pm'd you

OneMoreThenNoMore · 06/12/2013 07:28

Keep safe, rach89; whereabouts are you?

Just listening to radio humberside and it sounds awful. My dh works in Hull (east) and is going to attempt to get there this morning; the area near his work isn't flooded but traffic will be horrendous.

Dh had a look at the seafront this morning at high tide (which was at 6.30 here); he's never seen it so high.

fizzly- Paull has been affected so I would guess that Saltend could've been hit too, although still haven't heard anything about it.

OneMoreThenNoMore · 06/12/2013 07:33

Hull folk: the police have just issued advice re how to prepare your property for floods, might be worth a look on their twitter/fb pages if you think you're at risk.

Really hope the worst is over for you though. The police have also just said that they think the next high tide is within barrier limits, so fingers crossed.

OnMyHand · 06/12/2013 07:36

I'm in Sandwich Rooners, looks like the river came over but no idea how many homes were affected.

Rooners · 06/12/2013 07:37

Oh goodness I hope that things aren't too bad. Poor Sandwich, it's such a beautiful place.

Take good care.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 06/12/2013 07:46

Hope everyone's safe.
Seeing all the footage, so devastating. Thankful for our communities working together, our emergency services and our people who can predict such events.

Showy · 06/12/2013 07:46

I shouldn't have made jokes about the worst thing happening to dh being exhaustion. He fell asleep at the wheel on the way home. 4 miles from us, crashed the car. He's okay. The car isn't.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 06/12/2013 07:54

Morning all. Relying on local reports from you all to know what happened last night. One thing we certainly know - without the sea defences things would have been so very much worse. Hopefully this will highlight their importance in future budgets.

I'm hopeful that the next two tides wont be quite as high.
