here primarily for gales/severe gales (gusts up to 80mph) but also for snow on thurs and friday. In parts of Scotland, esp the NE the combination could lead too blizzard conditions and severe wind chill. Take care.

They just haven't taken it in from the summer, we've had some bad winds recently and I've been watching the bloody thing almost fly out (and once it did) a fair few times.

They share a garden with their downstairs neighbours (cottage flat) and I doubt they will be happy that their newish neighbours goalposts (they have filled the previously empty garden with a goalpost, a massive playframe and garden furniture that's left out) have knocked the 6 ft bloody fence down.

GloriaSmud · 05/12/2013 14:44

8.4C and the sun's come out!

tweetytwat · 05/12/2013 14:46

I'm in Cheshire and it's bloody grim. Very windy, intermittent rain and now it's very forceful hailstones. And I'm about to walk to school to get the children it's only a 5 minute walk

ouryve · 05/12/2013 14:48

I'm about to don my waterproofs for the school walk, too. I'll be sweating like a pig by the time I've pushed DS2 uphill in his buggy, into the wind, for 1km! Should dose up on my painkillers, fist, i think.

DowntonTrout · 05/12/2013 15:23

West Yorkshire here.

The wind has just stopped!

SantyClaws · 05/12/2013 15:32

Greetings from Canada....Xmas Grin Have been reading about your dreadful winds - saw some poor woman hanging on to a lampost in Leeds.... Not good.

It's -26 here in Calgary this morning (yes you read that right) and -33 earlier with the wind chill, but we've lost some wind since then so we're now pretty much at ambient temp.

We had a huge blizzard (literally) on Monday and are still digging out but should be sunny today - it's just getting light.

Apparently we are forecast a foot more snow next week so that's something to look forward to Xmas Confused

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 05/12/2013 15:35

brrr at -26C!!!!!

SantyClaws · 05/12/2013 15:36

brr indeed - human beings don't function well at these temperatures!!

mankyscotslass · 05/12/2013 15:43

Dry here at the moment, but it is bitter cold and still windy.

The sky looks to be full of snow.

DowntonTrout · 05/12/2013 15:43

Uh-oh! Spoke too soon.

The wind is back, it's gone very dark and it's hailing.

VivaLeBeaver · 05/12/2013 15:45

There's lots of trees down near us. Big ones.

The roof has blown off the co-OP and some solar panels have come off a roof and landed on someone in town.

mankyscotslass · 05/12/2013 15:49

Thunder!

TheWildOnes · 05/12/2013 15:53

I am right on the east coast and the roads around us are bring evacuated, we are on a slight hill so assume that's why we haven't had to leave.
I have lots of nightmares about the sea and flooding so I have to admit I am terrified right now.
The wind is so strong as well. Most businesses are closing early for the day and I'm hoping that now the kids are home we are safe in our house til this is all over, fingers crossed!

VivaLeBeaver · 05/12/2013 16:13

Omg, a passenger jet has had to land at our local raf base due to the wind! Wish em luck disembarking, etc as they won't have steps.

ouryve · 05/12/2013 16:13

Checking my twitter feed and the flooding's hit all the Northeast coastal towns. Right at rush hour.

The main road near us has been closed by a fallen power line. Thankfully, after DH's turn off for home. There's a line down in the next village, too, though it's not on the main road. I ended up having to give some poor person directions after she'd been sent round the houses trying to get there, though!

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 05/12/2013 16:15

thats a bit exciting Viva! Down the slide?!

hefner · 05/12/2013 16:25

South Yorkshire here and the wind seems to have calmed down slightly, although still very windy. We've lost 5 fence panels so far. Are we over the worst of it now?

ouryve · 05/12/2013 16:26

Shit - that's Whitby flooded.

DeathByLaundry · 05/12/2013 16:26

Well I was on moaning about thunder, lightning, rain and wind this morning after rescuing my errant trampoline. Now we're in the midst of a blizzard, the roads and pavements have turned to ice and DH has only just made it to work past crashed cars and is hoping he'll be allowed home before his official 2am finish. Roads are treacherous here.

However, we've not been flooded not will we be so I'm very grateful for that.

Off to dig the path out.

Mckayz · 05/12/2013 16:28

Whitby is flooding. I'm not there but have a few friends there posting pictures. Looks awful.

hefner · 05/12/2013 16:31

Fingers crossed for you TheWildOnes and everyone else on the east coast.

ouryve · 05/12/2013 16:38

A load of Stockton's underwater too, near where DH used to work. It's not even supposed to have peaked, yet.

Littlemissexpecting · 05/12/2013 16:38

Tyne has burst it's banks. Not exactly sure where
