Weather warnings for the north.

here primarily for gales/severe gales (gusts up to 80mph) but also for snow on thurs and friday. In parts of Scotland, esp the NE the combination could lead too blizzard conditions and severe wind chill. Take care.

We had a spot of sunshine and a calm period, but its started again with the rain and wind as bad as earlier.
I get really nervous in this sirt of weather. It is really not good at all.

so strange to be sat in the middle of southern england watching all of this going on online! Here it is blustery, maybe gusting to about 40mph and thats it.

After a lull, the rain's back here in East Durham, too, though not quite as horizontal as 10am. I had contemplated running a bath, but I've changed my mind.

by early evening it should have calmed down significantly.

West Durham seems still quite calm and peaceful. Lots of sun

We have the sun back again. Just a passing angry cloud, it seems!

Still not bothering with laundry - will just wash a small, easy to dry load this evening so DS2 has a clean sweatshirt for the morning.

Gusting to 50mph down here. I need to get my anemometer higher up - its under reading.

Getting worse in NW. The rain has stopped and blue skies came, but the wind has ramped up. DD's playhouse is shifting, and wheelie bins littering the roads (why is it always windy on bin day?)

Can also report that the dogs' ears flapped, as did their faces and lips....

My neighbours have put their bin out. I might point out to them it could be worse for us later!

peri, I'm keeping an eye on the squall line as it comes down here. I think it thins out as it approaches, so we might not get much. I think it will leave the south coast at about 10pm ish????

It's just started kicking off here (Leicester) ~ it's looking quite dark to the north. Highest gust so far ~ 23mph at 12.24. We had one heck of a gust about 11.30 ~ I was watching a magpie walking along the drive and it did several somersaults when it hit. It flew off looking rather surprised!

We've had a tornado (according to my son!) lashing rain that leaked in through the windows, then eerie calm, followed by a blizzard and now the sun has come out. Central Scotland.

fairisle - tell me about the tornado report.
