Nothing happening here in Swansea apart from a bit of rain. It rains all the time here, so nothing new. In fact, much less windier than it has been. I hope it isn't the clam before the storm.

I am getting tired but dont want to go to bed ! Seems to be a space between the gusts at the moment

No wind to speak of, even the cats have gone outside and they are spooked by wind.

Anybody else want to stay up and see the worst of it. I don't think I will ,make it . Will go and make another cup of t and find some choc biscuits to munch

Rain has reached Newark. Not very hard yet though.

We've got rain and blustery wind here in Kent - I feel it's building up to something.

Kent here. Has been raining solidly for hours....wind just started picking up within the last 10 minutes.

I am terrified of the wind....

Sussex by the sea reporting. Been pretty blowy all day with intermittent rain, then this evening it suddenly calmed down & was like that for about an hour. I've heard the phrase of 'calm before a storm' but have never experienced it. Wind has certainly picked up again & its raining buckets out there. Hopefully it will not be as bad as predicted as DH already has problems getting to work. He normally goes by train, tomorrow he's got no option but to drive & needs to leave home around 5:30-6am. The storm is supposed to be still over our area at that time so yes I'm worried & wish he wasn't so damn conscientious!

In bed now. madasa I don't think the wind is that bad. Not as bad as expected , it does sound very noisy but I'm sure you will be fine

Was just about to report that there wasn't a peep here in NE Surrey but literally in the last 5 minutes it's gone from completely calm to howling wind and all my (inside) doors are rattling.

Leicester. Still nothing out of the ordinary. Light rain. Air is completely calm for now.

Bristol - rain stopped, wind picking up now.
