:) in case I'm not back by the time the other one fills up.

OP posts:
ChilliJo · 27/10/2013 23:55

Another Bournemouth type reporting for duty. It's really, really wild out there now! I know because I just went out into the garden Blush .

Anyone in Cornwall able to update us?

PowerPants · 27/10/2013 23:57

We are clearly weather aficianadoes in Bomo! You are brave Chilli.

CatThiefKeith · 27/10/2013 23:57

Rain in North Kent, but less wind now than we've had all day. Off to bed now, stay safe everyone.

ChilliJo · 28/10/2013 00:03

I am going to be a storm chaser when I grow up.

ouryve · 28/10/2013 00:05

Those of you debating unplugging stuff: do! Our power went out for 8 hours in a localised storm at the end of sept. local supply is flaky, anyhow, butbitbspent a full 10 minutes turning on and off at 4:30 am. I have never moved so fast at that time in the morning!

That M4 closure looks like scheduled maintenance. They've been doing that on the A1 up here all year.

ouryve · 28/10/2013 00:07

Oh, and stay safe, everyone. "Hurricane Bawbag" hit us harder than this is forecast to, so I am off to bed!

ChubbyKitty · 28/10/2013 00:09

Is it me or is it warm?

Notice people round here taking everything very seriously, just heard some people cruising around in the car with music blaring.

I think I can hear a gentle pitter patter of light rain.

mummylin2495 · 28/10/2013 00:10

Chilli can I be a storm chaser with you ? I would love to be watching the waves down the beach, but it would be too dangerous I think. You were brave going out. I went as far as the front door ! My dh has gone to bed, he dosent believe any trees will come down and thinks I have been fussing for nothing , moving stuff in the garden , making sure we have candles etc! I want to stay up till at least 3 . Stay safe Bournemouth people ( and everyone else of course )

DameDeepRedBetty · 28/10/2013 00:10

Marlborough NE Wilts. Pissing down and has been for some time now.

Wind nothing special though.

Quint best wishes for your dad.

No disruption yet, have watched Downton Abbey. Quite a good episode, hope all those with power issues will get a chance to catch up with ITV player when all has calmed down again.

The sleepover seems to have settled into chillout, they've all packed their Zombie Apocalypse Bags just in case, but appear to be perfectly happy with crap telly, piled up in a big heap of duvets with a carton of Pringles.

ChubbyKitty · 28/10/2013 00:13

It wasn't rain. Goodness knows what it was!

ChilliJo · 28/10/2013 00:16

My DH is asleep too, mummylin. I was up there too with the window open but shut it and came downstairs to experience it here. It's really rather exhilarating. I saw a tweet about the fire brigade attending the Littledown Centre because of flooding?

I hope everyone is safe.

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 28/10/2013 00:18

It's very warm here, but then it only got chilly enough to need the heating on a few nights ago.

theywillgrowup · 28/10/2013 00:20

nice to see so many from bmth and poole

lashing rain and strong gusts

being thoughtful i bought the cat a litter tray etc and showed him,im lying bed and the bugger jumps on the bed soaking hed gone out in it Shock

mummylin2495 · 28/10/2013 00:22

Oh we came past there earlier wonder when that's happened. Noisy now isn't it, if this is just the beginning what will it sound like when it's in full flow.

theywillgrowup · 28/10/2013 00:22

getting pretty wild here now bournemouth

PowerPants · 28/10/2013 00:23

Just opened our front door here in Poole - the rain is going sideways and the trees look horribly unstable. However on the xc weather site we linked to earlier, they have downgraded expected wind speed here from 60mph to 53 mph at the storm's height. Currently 30-40mph.

mummylin2495 · 28/10/2013 00:24

Just had a text from a fellow storm liver and he said sky think it will last longer than they first though

mummylin2495 · 28/10/2013 00:24

Storm lover not liver !

theywillgrowup · 28/10/2013 00:24

is this the storm for us or a bit later, bournemouth i thought it was gonna be later

Mynewmoniker · 28/10/2013 00:26

Just getting a hot drink before power cut...it usually happens! Then off to bed as wind getting up here.

Dorset.

finallyLTB · 28/10/2013 00:26

I am in poole and it is very noisy indeed. We are sort if uphill from the sea and it is fierce. I was really worried but am pleased to see the expected wind speed has gone down. Thanks powerpants.
I am not expecting much sleep tonight.

blankslate · 28/10/2013 00:26

DC are finally asleep here, still raining steadily but not particularly heavily. Wind hasn't developed yet either although I think I can hear occasional gusts. I wouldn't say it was warm, but its definitely not as cold as it has been the last few nights.

LadyStark · 28/10/2013 00:27

It's bloody horrid here, so noisy I can't sleep and can hear windows etc rattling. I am not looking forward to the worst of it hitting, hard to imagine it being worse!

ChubbyKitty · 28/10/2013 00:28

The warmth might just be me. The radiator was on full!Confused Turned it down and window open for me to keep an ear out for anything.

PowerPants · 28/10/2013 00:28

Oooh finally we are just uphill from the sea too! TBH we have had worse here. There was a big tree down just up the road in Branksome Park earlier.
