Hanging off a rock in the inner hebrides and today we have gales and hail. Our poor lambs are huddled in corners, the grass won't grow, cows and sheep in misery and our poor piglets haven't even been outdoors yet!
Never mind that the heating is still on, we still need to light the fire most days as it feels so 'wintery'!
I know farmers are known for complaining about the weather but surely it must warm up sometime?

I wouldnt cancel yet, but I'd certainly be prepared to cancel as it looks very very wet. Not looking quite so windy at ground level is the only consolation.

ajandjjmum · 15/05/2013 15:46

So, the current plan is we'll drive up to Fort William and the guys will either start on Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon on Ben Nevis, before heading off to Scarfell and Snowdon. Do you reckon it's just a case of fingers crossed?!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2013 16:02

Sensible to delay it until Sunday :) better chance of it being ok then.

ajandjjmum · 15/05/2013 18:37

Thanks Kitten - everyone DH works with is now learning about your skills!!! Grin

Blush

One day I'll be known as the new Michael Fish! It's bound to end badly!

ajandjjmum · 15/05/2013 20:21

Noooooo - you've proven yourself totally in the shut down of Heathrow at Christmas. We will never forget that! I even got brownie points from the deputy head at school for my impressive weather forecasting contacts! Grin

peachypips · 15/05/2013 20:28

Do you work for the MET office OYBBK?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2013 20:33

Peachy, I'm just an amateur.

peachypips · 15/05/2013 20:42

Half my village works for the MET office as I live just outside of Exeter so I wondered if I knew you!!

digerd · 15/05/2013 20:53

Skies cleared at 3pm - S Herts- wind had subsided and it was very nice. At 5pm it turned nice and warm in the sun despite only 14 degrees.
Sky clear atm, so another cold night probably, but supposed to be sunny tomorrow, then turning worse again with loads of rain.
According to my gardener who is coming to mow the lawn tomorrow.

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 15/05/2013 20:55

Snow here last night. Dartmoor. Bloody ridiculous!

I blame....

Ummm....

Oh, there's nobody to blame. Damn.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2013 20:56

It would be my dream job!

nenevomito · 15/05/2013 20:58

It's bloody freezing in north west England. Freezing. The worst bit is that I know as soon as it stops being cold, its just going to rain solidly for 3 months here, as it has done every year for the past 3 years.

peachypips · 15/05/2013 21:21

You are clearly good at it. But more kind of mystical and sixth-sensy than the MET office.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 16/05/2013 09:23

Sunshine! Actual bloody sunshine

There was a frost last night, but the sky is this weird, blue colour, and there are no grey bits.

I am ignoring all housework and sitting outside. Really I should have a cardy on as the wind is chilly but I am living dangerously. Grin

seeker · 16/05/2013 09:27

My friend's Facebook status yesterday was "Apple blossom out, robin singing, wood burner on. Weather sarcasm"

HesterShaw · 16/05/2013 09:51

[Seeker], that brought a chuckle Grin

Today is lovely

HesterShaw · 16/05/2013 09:52

Oops, boldfail. seeker

PestoSwimissimos · 16/05/2013 09:55

Sun's out here too Smile

Here's a question. Why the heck does the jet stream go swanning off in the winter leaving us with long, settled (ok freezing) spells, and then come and sit over us nim April again? Wrong way round surely.

HesterShaw · 16/05/2013 10:02

In not nim.

EffieTheDuck · 16/05/2013 10:05

The May is not out so I can't cast my long johns a cloot.

Hell, never mind the May, none of the trees have leaves yet. Sad

HesterShaw · 16/05/2013 10:20

Tell them not to bother. They'll only get blown off

SconeInSixtySeconds · 16/05/2013 10:36

Well I am throwing caution to the wind. The oak trees are in almost full leaf around me whereas my ash tree is just coming out.

Oak before Ash in for a splash.

The last few years its been the other way around:

Ash before Oak in for a soak.

HesterShaw · 16/05/2013 10:37

Cor! Hope you're right

Tis all horse chestnuts and sycamores and beeches round our way.
