Blimey, those last 30 or so posts went quickly! Here's a lovely shiny new thread.

Start with gyms in that case. Have you put any Pokémon in gyms that are held by your team yet or have you avoided them altogether?

Yes. Gyms are easy. You don’t need to socialise with other people. Just battle their Pokémon and then out your own in when completed.

Raids really aren’t that bad. People are usually very friendly.

You can do a remote raid, where you don’t need to be there, or a normal raid where you do.

The higher the boss, the more people you need with you to take them down.

We put a Pokémon in the gym at the bottom of our road. And we've done three raids. We won one and got a Shinx which we were pretty pleased about.

The other it was just us against a Chansey with a CP over 5000. DD2 almost beat it; if only she'd had 10 more seconds!

It's such a fun game. It gets DS walking and sometimes he'll talk to me about nonPokemon related things while he is catching one. I also play it on my own now so I was very glad to see this thread.

Once your level is high enough you should be able to solo raid a level 1 boss.

I mostly just do level 1 and remote raid anything higher through pokegenie.

We're level 28 right now. Tbh, I am happy for us to progress slowly. Seems a good way for DS to learn delayed gratification!

Do you like gyms or raids better? I don't know yet.

Also, any advice on how to do good curve balls?

Spin in one of the bottom corners, then throw.

It works better for bigger Pokémon

Got a Braviary when I was just out and about on my own the other day. Just got a Palkia now in a remote raid. Was down to my last two balls.

Palkia is a hard git.

I had to do two raids to take it down and even then I was down to my last two balls too

I’ve managed to get a second Palkia. If anyone has a Raikou they are willing to trade for it please let me know!

Hello Newbies, another regular just posting to say the best way to get gold on a gym is to raid it. Until you are about Level 35 or above if you are alone stick to Tier 1 raids, Level 3 can be soloed after that, well, Chansey and Mawile can be.
Taking down a rival gym is most satisfying, and seeing what you put in is almost as good as a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

But this new one still has some. There may be obvious answers to them but I have looked on the website and struggled to find them so I am asking you.

How do you know what tier/level a raid is? Can you set raids yourself? And if you choose friends, how do you find your trainer or friend code or whatever it is?

And we are probably very far behind in research goals but we were very pleased that, upon finishing one, we got a Meloetta. She's our buddy now 🙂

Oh, no you can set raids yourself. The game does that.

You can tell what level it is by the colour of the egg (google will help there).

For your friend code, go to add friends, and it will give you your code at the top

Your Tier 1 raid is denoted by a red egg above a gym, tier 3 by yellow, Tier 4+ by an egg that changes colour, and Tier 5 by a black egg.

Your Trainer Code can be found if you tap on your avatar on the main screen and slide the cursor across to the screen that says 'friends' and scroll down. It will be there, a 12 digit number. If you want instant friends post your friend code here. It will be picked up. The only name displayed will be your in-game nickname.

The task that is griping me is getting 5 great throws in a row. I had 4 yesterday and then lost the streak again. I've had this for months!

Not sure if I’ve got it yet Doctor. I’ve had three people. Does it start with an M, C or a J?

@CornishGem1975 there is a way to manipulate the game so you can get the x great throws in a row task. When you’re in the catch screen, before throwing, put your phone into aeroplane mode. If the throw is great or excellent, turn aeroplane mode and carry on. If it isn’t, close the game, turn aeroplane mode off, and go back into the game.
