Shiny new thread.

Our local group had our first socially distant raid t'other day, there were 11 in the lobby and only 3 of us were physically at the gym. The bantz on the message group afterwards was funny though after I introduced them to a new word.

That's the negative side of lockdown, many players are too worried to get within 10m of another. There are some friends I haven't seen in months, and just a few I have seen to have a socially distant chat. Still, mustn't grumble.

HappyPunky, yes they do seem harder to catch. I spent loads of balls catching my first ever nincada, then loads more came along. One annoying thing is that I caught a shiny one but it then it turned normal. Weird!
Cupidity, that's good to know about the Scyther hatching from eggs. I'm hoping for a 3 star one...

You won't ever need a masquerain so it doesn't matter too much if it's not three star. I tend to evolve dex entry Pokémon like that with the highest CP. They look good in gyms then.
I still need scyther candies too for my second account. Tuesday and Wednesday are scyther incense day!

What's a 3 star Pokemon?

@chunkyrun When you reach a certain level you can choose which team to be on. From that point on, you can ask your team leader to appraise each Pokémon you have. Some are zero stars, some are one star, two star, and three star. It's really helpful to see which ones are worth keeping and which to send back to the professor.

What tasks? Someone said they needed to evolve a scyther. I dont have any new special research for this bug event.

Evolve a scyther is from the Let's Go Meltan research. It's been sitting on my phone about a year as I rarely played on my second account. There's no new special research.

@jillandhersprite I have a 3 star Surskit going spare, if you want to do a trade... I have to trade a Pokemon for a research task so I don’t really mind what you send in return.

Meant to say, it’s not a particularly great one... CP 171, HP 48... but it does have 3*.

Sorry, ignore me! I hadn’t realised we need to be next to each other in real life in order to trade. I am still new to all this!

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to complete that research task as I don’t know anyone who plays in real life.

ignatius I know you’ve skipped the trade plan anyway but when you do trade the Pokémon change anyway. So sending a three star doesn’t mean that the other person will receive a three star anyway. Sometimes they get better, sometimes worse and occasionally go lucky; lucky usually means they have decent stats and need less candy to power them up and the background is twinkly. If you keep exchanging gifts with your best friends you might go ‘lucky’ and your next trade is guaranteed to be a good one. So in my pic if I trade with willocks it will definitely be lucky but sadly I’ve no idea who that is in real life!

I caught a shiny Nincada, thankfully it stayed shiny.

I've opened my maximum amount of gifts today, I find that really frustrating!

Otherwise I'm flying through level 38, I reckon if I keep going the way I'm going I'll be level 40 by September

My shiny Nincada is now shiny again. Don't know how or why but glad to have the shininess back. @HighBrows someone local gave me a good tip for earning extra XP to help whizz through the higher levels. You get a lot more xp for spinning a new pokestop,as opposed to your regular pokestops. So if you're on a day trip to somewhere new, specially a big city with lots of stops and gyms,then just keep opening lucky eggs and spin as many new stops as you can! Not sure my DH and kids would like it if we're on a family day out but needs must...

Yay, just caught a three star Scyther from the field task. Think it was to catch ten weather boosted Pokémon. Need to evolve Scyther and Magikarp - way too many candies needed...

The one good thing about Magikarp (or any of the 400 candy ones) is that it’s only 1km to earn a candy, it’s the 5km ones which I moan about.

@bellababy I only started the Scyther challenge earlier this week, but they seem to be everywhere at the moment so was able to complete it really quickly.

I've managed to walk my way up to just over 300 magicarp candy. And if I ever see one I pinap berry them so hopefully I'll be able to complete that challenge sometime during July.

I’m a bit annoyed, I’ve tried two incense-es, and I’ve not seen one nincada

The nincada incense days were Friday and Saturday. Today (Sunday) and Monday will feature wurmple. Tuesday and Wednesday are scyther. @Badgerling

Can you screenshot your journal still, to show what spawned? If so then submit a complaint to Niantic. I know it happened to one player in our group too, although I don't know what the outcome was.
Another player is a prolific complainer and is always getting compensation for things. It's worth reporting!

I just got a shiny lapras as a go battle reward. Very excited, I haven't caught a lapras before!

Just a heads up if you are lucky egging, none of my XP doubled so I missed out on loads of XP. I emailed CS and got a free egg but... 🙄 bit miffed tbh.
