We have two pokestops in our community which don’t meet the criteria (you need an access guard to gain entry so they’re not available to the public), and they’re not exactly interesting places (one is the kids’ play park and the other is a decorative fountain that hasn’t worked for about 3 years!). I’m not complaining though! It shows the weaknesses in the process though.
@Feesh Parks often have stops- being boring doesn't apply to them.
There's a park I know of where people have to be paid members to gain entry. I think it has a stop/gym.
The access thing is about whether it's safe to play there i.e. a stop's not on a busy road with no pedestrian paths etc. pokemongohub.net/post/guide/pokestop-submission-guide/#Can_it_be_safely_accessed
Reviewers wouldn't know the place isn't open to anyone anyway, as it's very rare we get to review a stop for the local area.
I have hundreds I want to do.
@JacobReesMogadishu Oooh, what sort of thing? I can't think of many by where I tend to hang out. There is one stretch of road on a slightly more rural walk I take sometimes, and I'd like to see if there are any footpath entrances etc where I can put any stops.
@BaronessBomburst Yes, I know of some where it's murals that have been painted over etc. The more stops the better for playing purposes etc.
We also have lots that aren't where they say they are. One of the players is an absolute pro at deceptive photography. A Henry Moore-esque statue in someone's front garden has been moved to a nearby carpark and they managed to shoot the pavement and garden at such an angle that it looks like the carpark and you can't see the house. Other statues and sculptures genuinely in parks and public spaces have been moved too so that the Got-cha can spin them if you drive past.
Ooh, cunning and cheeky. :) If you're bothered about any of them, you can apply to edit the location. The more stops the better, and ones you can get from the roads are helpful for people with mobility problems who mainly play from the car etc. But putting ones in their front garden is cheeky.
