Pick not sure but think you have to have your buddy join you on screen for the tasks to earn a heart? Include your buddy in the team you're using to train against leaders/pvp/battle gyms; should still count even if you don't actually need to use that mon.

Baroness do you know if it's worth waiting to get a gotcha till after they introduce the sleep feature? Think I read somewhere that the gotcha will be updated to work with that? As per my earlier post, think I need to get a gotcha (or 2!) to cope with not being modelled on Shiva! 😂

No idea about the sleep feature.
I use mine to spin stops on the drive to and from work. It means I always have balls and gifts to send. I don't always use it to catch although I do find it handy if I'm out with DH, who doesn't play. I went around Versailles with my Gotcha and phone both on in my handbag. Got interesting gifts and Pokémon to use for distance trades and no-one was any the wiser........

Does anyone know how you progress with your buddy to access great buddy? I have done all the things with mine. Thanks for the tips on playing with and battling with, but it seems really slow to get towards great buddy. Do u have to do all the things every day (impossible) or just one thing every day?

You have to collect 70 hearts to become great buddies, 150 hearts for ultra buddies, and 300 hearts to become best buddies.
You can collect up to 10 hearts day, so in theory could become best buddies in a week. I haven't currently got the time to walk 6km a day playing PokémonGo though, so it's not going to happen!
Getting your buddy excited speeds the process up but it's not realistic (we tried) unless you buy a poffin from the shop. (we haven't)

What kind of rewards are you guys getting for completing 7 field research?
The first time for me a zapdos appeared but since then it's always been moltres - I have 4 already so when he appeared again today for me I have just exited as I don't want to waste balls. Is there any point in keeping hold of the 4 of them? Thanks...

They change it every so often. It was eevees with flower hair bands for ages!! I used to try to complete one every day but I let it go on for longer now because I'm not so bothered and try to coordinate it with a lucky egg instead and star piece because there's normally about £3000 points I think and a large amount of star dust.

jill it can be the birds - moltres, zapdos or articuno, or groundon or kyogre. Try missing a day and changing the day you complete for a different one. I did get my kyogre after failing in raids so I'm pleased but it is a bit of a swizz.

The legendaries in the boxes can be used for PvP though, which is why they do it. With a CP under 15,000 they can be used in the Great League.
The rest of us just find it annoying to get a shiny or high CP Pokémon and then have to spend zillions of candies and stardust to make it useful.

Agree the cubchoo are gross. My nephews hatched festive pichu’s out of 2 km eggs. I finally have two incubating and have my fingers crossed!

I've not done much walking this week, one of my knees tends to hyperextend occasionally, and has picked this week to do it. To turn right I have to swivel on my right foot instead of putting my weight on my left leg, otherwise the chances are I'll collapse in a heap.

Got zero shinies over Christmas.
