Has everybody got Ex Raid passes for next Saturday? Hopefully it'll be another 100% catch rate...

Welcome to the new thread.

Mr mime and standtler and maybe ledyba with a narner are most reliable for great curveball, at the moment. Oh, and miktank, oddly enough.

Alternatively, hold on until you get your weekly quest reward and use narners and red balls, as they don't run away.

Does anyone know much about the berry bug? I got 7 stamps, fed a pinap to Raikou but then the app crashed. I can’t get any more stamps now. Would it be fixed if I log in on an android device?

Moltenpink I do believe the latest update has fixed that particular bug on both iPhone and Android. The iPhone update came out last night so if you haven’t updated I would recommend you do. If your game is still crashing just reinstall the app.

Your research reward encounters can’t run away - Raikou will still be there when you log back into the game Smile

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 25/08/2018 13:49

Contrary I can do that. I am not after xp myself as I am level 40 (not a stealth bug honest!) how do I recognise your poke name?

TangelasVine · 25/08/2018 13:53

On the update you can now see an arrow of those you've given gifts to and a halo around the picture of them if you've levelled up friendship with them that day.

flutterbean · 25/08/2018 14:21

I have added a few people as friends, but feel free to add me if I haven't done.

I'm happy to send gifts when I have them 😊

Also, my dh is after friends to send gifts to, so feel free to add him as well.

Thanks!

Moltenpink · 25/08/2018 14:38

Thanks Wailmer, I’ll give it a go.

SneakyGremlins · 25/08/2018 16:23

YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

Pokemon Go #18: You ain't nothin' but a Houndoom.
flutterbean · 25/08/2018 17:38

That's fab @SneakyGremlins whenever I get to those raids there's no one about to battle with me! How many people did it take?

SneakyGremlins · 25/08/2018 17:41

There was 10 of us - 7 small irritating lads, a lovely grandma, me and a friend.

I was taking a break when Ho-Oh was released so I'm bloody thrilled!

MeetMeInMontauk · 25/08/2018 20:12

I'm really hoping to get out to a Ho-oh raid tomorrow as it's far more interesting to me than bloody Regirock (nothing to do with the fact that I still haven't managed a catch in 3 raids Angry) and has meta utility, unlike the Regis. Congrats to those that caught Ho-oh today!

Final call for Malidice and Bebelle btw, otherwise I will trigger Ultra at 11 tomorrow when I Lucky Egg. That's fair isn't it, MN jury? I've left messages on this thread for at least half a week but I'm still feeling guilty at the idea of others missing out.

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 25/08/2018 23:04

Hope it's ok to say thank you to everyone who has become friends with me over the last couple of days - it's been overwhelming and fab! I can only apologise that my stash of gifts is completely depleted and I'm now on a gifting go-slow. I'll send as and when I can, I promise!

I have an Android and I have to re-install frequently now. It's been a little bit better the last couple of days but for a few weeks I had to re-install several times a day. It's annoying.

I know it's a total pain for you, but I'm glad to hear it's not just us. We've been having this problem for at least the last two or three community days, so probably a couple of months, and it's happening across three different Samsung phones. I've killed my data on a few occasions having to reinstall it if I can't find somewhere local with free wi-fi. I was going to dig out a contact email for Niantic and report it.

SneakyGremlins · 25/08/2018 23:30

Is the issue I'm having related? I can tab out of the game to reply to a text - 15 seconds max - and return to a white Niantic logo and the loading screen. Everytime! It's so bloody irritating. Means I have to keep stopping.

PickAChew · 26/08/2018 00:18

Might be your phone. Is it low on memory?

SneakyGremlins · 26/08/2018 00:22

No, got loads left Confused

SneakyGremlins · 26/08/2018 02:29

Ah.

Uninstalled Clean Master and can now go for about 5/10 minutes without a loading screen!

SneakyGremlins · 26/08/2018 02:31

Why is the lower IV one such a good CP?

Pokemon Go #18: You ain't nothin' but a Houndoom.
MeetMeInMontauk · 26/08/2018 06:58

IV is distinct from level, which governs total amount of HP and CP. In other words, a Pokémon's IVs are the same whether it is level 1 or level 40. You would notice the difference though in terms of attack power, as an example. Let's say you levelled your very low level 97% IV Arboc up to the same level as the 78% (it would cost an astronomical amount of candy and dust FYI: don't actually do it) and tried both of them on attack. I'm speculating without seeing the exact IVs but it's reasonable to think that the 97 has a higher attack stat than the 78; you would see it do more damage per hit than the 78er. So IVs remain independent of overall level and it's why IVs are generally considered more important than CP. CP can be improved with time and investment in worthwhile mons, but bad IVs will lead to weaker mons even at max level and should be traded to reroll stats or transferred for candy. HTH.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 26/08/2018 09:01

Why is the lower IV one such a good CP?

SneakyGremlins Because CP and IV are in no way related.

Having a high CP doesn’t mean it will have good IVs; it doesn’t even mean it’s more likely to. There’s no link there at all.

CP can be changed, hence its lack of importance. IV cannot be changed, which is why it is so important and the reason I only want 90%+ IV Pokemon, even if they’re an exceptionally low CP.

But as above, you do need to be careful. Powering up a Pokemon below level 20 can have astronomical stardust and candy costs. For example, it takes 66 candy and 75,000 stardust to take a Pokemon from level 20 to 30, and 86 candy and 96,400 dust to take a Pokemon from level 15 to level 30.

However, out of all the Pokemon released in game, only a small few of them are worth powering up; powering up anything else would be a massive waste.

MeetMeInMontauk · 26/08/2018 10:08

And allied to that is the idea that it's worth holding off on powering any Pokémon up until you hit at least lvl 30 as 30 is the max level that wild mons will spawn at (35 if weather boosted), meaning that you may encounter a higher CP/lvl mon with equal or better IVs than something you caught at, say, lvl 23, thereby saving resources. The exception to this - as always - are decent IV Legendaries which will only ever be lvl 20 (25 boosted) when caught and, provided that they have good stats and are meta-relevant, are nearly always good value for stardust. Good luck getting hold of candy for them, however - it nearly always has to be converted Rare candy from raid wins.

cottonwool125 · 26/08/2018 10:25

Finally got round to opening up some of the gifts from you lovely lot! Sending them back when I can- when you live out in the sticks of Norfolk, gathering enough gifts to send back to everyone can be tricky!

Also, I've posted already, but my trainer code is 2973 7007 9508 in case anyone wants to exchange gifts, or if you're on the 'make 3 new friends' part of the Celebi quest like I am! Grin

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 26/08/2018 13:22

Contrary what is your Pokemon name?

ContraryToPopularBelief · 26/08/2018 15:40

@stayingaliveisawayoflife I'm HayJoLou. 6pm then?

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 26/08/2018 16:11

Yep will do. Shall we say between 6 and 6.10?
