I think you can get Alolan eggs in gifts but need a space for them.
I'm going for a walk at lunchtime that should hatch one, maybe two, eggs and then open the gift.

If you don’t want any Alolan eggs, aftermyou have enough of each form, make sure you don’t have any space or you’ll accidentally have 8 Alolan eggs. /bitter

And as for Android vs iOS, iOS still has the berry encounter bug while it's fixed on Android (I play on both depending which device I have with me, only one account though) so it's swings and roundabouts on the bugs.

Since the Johto event started, PoGo on both my devices seems to freeze more often so I think the freezing is caused by something server side.

So I finally took the plunge and engaged hack mode for PoGo 😉 This thing tears through Pokéballs though - had 75ish saved up yesterday, now have less than 20, and that's with me only using Greats and Ultras for manual catches. Good thing that it also spins Stops really, else I'd be buggered.

I have lots of each of the Alolan’s now but I always have half regular/half Alolan eggs as I frequently trade the Alolan ones, especially when members of our raid group go on holiday!

SirNilsOlav Of course iOS still has that particular bug - they haven’t had the update yet! That one may have been fixed in the recent update on android, but it had so many new bugs that iOS rejected it.

It’s not an iOS vs Android thing; the update would fix/introduce bugs whichever it was on. The difference is that iOS rejected it as they quality test their updates whereas Android don’t.

I've only got exeggutor (lots of them though), geodude and rattata in Alolan form so far. I haven't had any Pokemon friends until this morning at all.
