Has everybody got Ex Raid passes for next Saturday? Hopefully it'll be another 100% catch rate...

Welcome to the new thread.

If you use the name trick, you don't have to walk them. I've never walked an Eevee but have both a shiny Umbreon and a shiny Espeon now. But the name trick only works once, so if you've already tried it, walking them then evolving at day/night depending what you want, is the only way left to get a choice. I want another of each (non shinies), so will have to walk the Eevees this time.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 13/08/2018 22:47

DoctorTwo You said you use the name trick and then walk them 10km, however if you use the name trick you don’t have to walk them 10km.

That’s the difference I was pointing out, that if the name trick works, the walking isn’t required, but you said it was.

It's worth noting that per the Silph Road reddit it is actually walk eevee for two candies (which is 10k when there's no buddy distance event) and people have reported that the candy drop can occasionally be behind the distance updating so it's worth a quick check to make sure you've got the two before evolving.

Apologies Polkerris. I had a few yesterday morning before travelling and didn't think I would have much of a signal for the rest of the day, so went ahead.
That's the only annoying thing on this friends business; it would be useful to send a message in game, but I guess that would open a whole can of worms vis-à-vis minors, etc possibly?

bettytaghetti · 14/08/2018 15:17

Is jesssdddddd here? If so, we're due for ultra friends anytime now. I'm happy to wait if you're trying to group under a lucky egg?

Also due with Catchyjem & RatWeaselPod in a couple of days, so if you want to coordinate timings re planning to use an egg, let me know.

Is anyone else finding their avatar keeps changing colour? Mine keeps going yellow!

SneakyGremlins · 14/08/2018 21:07

CHIKORITA DAY IS COMING

TangelasVine · 14/08/2018 21:23

I always sing the Abba song in my head when I see a Chicorita. Sing a new song Chicorita

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 14/08/2018 21:24

Yay! I’ve walked mine for 135km already, time for a different buddy! The one I have is rubbish IV anyway.

I am here 👍

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 15/08/2018 00:39

I’m not excited about Chikorita day. Yeah, Chikorita is one of my favourite Pokémon ever, as is its final evolution Meganium, but it’s pretty useless in Pokemon Go. I can’t remember ever battling with mine.

SneakyGremlins · 15/08/2018 00:42

I've only ever caught two Wailmer so I personally am excited Smile

MrsJamin · 15/08/2018 06:13

I've only ever caught two so I welcome this community day otherwise I'd never get a meganium. I am going to try and keep the day free so I can actually take part properly this time!

Wristy · 15/08/2018 07:52

A desperate plea for friends!

Looking for players to trade with in the Harrogate/Knaresborough area.

Wristy · 15/08/2018 07:58

Also just looking for friends as I know no one who plays irl!

SirNilsOlav · 15/08/2018 13:54

I know a lot of people will welcome Chikorita so I think it's a really good choice for community day. It may not be a battle king but it's a popular pokemon and I think community day is more about going out and having fun getting shiny trophies than it is building an excellent battle team.

SneakyGremlins · 15/08/2018 13:57

How many points does it take to get gold on a gym?

bettytaghetti · 15/08/2018 15:00

Sneaky in total it's 30,000 points. The biggest thing is winning a raid which gives you 1,000 points. There are points for defending, battling, feeding berries, putting a mon in, and I noticed that I got an occasional extra 5 points for spinning a gym (when I was on holiday and our room was practically on top of a gym!).

SneakyGremlins · 15/08/2018 15:07

THIRTY THOUSAND? Shock

Also I'm slowly sending gifts again!

JynxaSmoochum · 15/08/2018 15:49

Sorry if this has been covered before, but what are the lucky pokemon? Is it only apparent when they are traded (not tried trading yet)

I've just about kept up with the game through the end of term and school holidays starting, but have missed raiding as I've either not been around or not able to coordinate with other players.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 15/08/2018 19:25

JynxaSmoochum Lucky Pokemon can only be obtained via trading, and they’re completely random.

Basically, any time you trade a Pokémon it has a chance of becoming a lucky Pokémon, which means it costs 50% less stardust to power up.

JynxaSmoochum · 15/08/2018 21:45

Thanks 🙂 I'd picked up something about star dust. I didn't realise it was for powering up.

Looks like I might not get Registeel this time round. I've only had one go and it ran. The last month or so has involved holidays (so not being able to connect with other players) and poorly kids that are awkward to lug out. The local players aren't enamoured on it so many haven't been bothered about getting duplicates and candy for it once they've got it.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 15/08/2018 22:22

JynxaSmoochum Stardust is very hard to get hold of, and it’s very hard to collect a lot of it. You shouldn’t be powering up Pokémon that you aren’t going to regularly use in battle, and the Pokémon you do power up should be high IVs (for me it’s 90%+).

I also recommend not powering anything up until after you’re Level 30, as the Pokemon you get before that will be much weaker.
