I have been dead set against spending any money on games but I finally caved the other night as I thought the ultra box was good value with all the super incubators, lucky eggs & raid passes.

Do you have to have a google sign in in order to be able to use the google rewards and does it need to be an android phone? Completely useless at how that all works!

Not sure on the Google thing. I have an android and all the Google stuff on it. It basically stalks you and says "rate your trip to Asda today" and stuff like that.

Ah yes I meant Mew. @OrianaBanana try and find a river or lake this weekend! I was chuffed how fast I got a load. There's a research task too - "Catch 10 pokemon" to get a magikarp so keep spinning pokestops to find it.

Zapdos day today! I’m finally free and able to go with my local group (with the kids of course) so we might raid at least three times Do you need to buy extra raid passes?

Can't see me being free for Zapdos raids. I knew having kids was a bad idea!

Finally dinged to 25 last night, but even that caused me an issue: I now have 425/400 items in my pack. First-world PoGo problems, for real.

For the first 5 Zapdos raids today you get a free raid pass.

I’ve also attached a picture of normal vs. shiny Zapdos. It is a small difference, but shiny Zapdos is darker. If you get one, you will mostly notice it by the stars that appear when you hit the catch screen

I am very much looking forward to this. On Articuno Day I managed 17 raids and gained around 700,000 XP. Sure, it was a double XP event, but I’m going to be sticking a lucky egg on every half an hour to maximise XP today too.

It has also been discovered that Alolan Geodude and Alolan Diglett can now be hatched from 7km eggs

Zapdos Day Stats

I gained 336,483 XP
Which meant I levelled up to Level 38
I gained 29,588 stardust

I caught 3 shiny Zapdos - 87%, 82% and 79%

I did 13 raids and caught 10 overall

All good, except I had a 100% Zapdos run from me

But other than a great day! I did have to cut it short though; otherwise I’d still be out there now!

I got two alolan vulpixes while walking too, I will evolve one

I didn't play for nearly a year and only recently started again. Today I joined about 30 people from a FB group for Zapdos days - my first raids ever and I hadn't a clue what to do. Spent my first ever real money on raid passes after the freebies ran out. It was fun although the big group quickly split into smaller ones.

I would say if you don't know anyone, when there's an event like this you can pretty much join up with any bunch of strangers in a big town or city - Leeds was crawling with them!

I'm not doing well out of these raid events. DS is in an activity in the mornings so I miss out on the local group sweeping the area as they've moved on by the time I'm free. So no new Zapdos or the previous one for me .

It took a while to get into the group raids and the way they were organised (last summer it was by overwhelming town-wide chats and I left before they splintered into localised and specislist sub-goups then got into them in the autumn/winter. I've just got a few L15 Zapdos from the field task rewards.

I find I don't really know what to do with many of the reward pokemon as their IVs are decent, but their levels so low to be worth powering up.

JynxaSmoochum If it’s a legendary you’re not likely to obtain any other way and its IV is 90%+, I would power it up, but only one (ie. highest 90% + Zapdos, highest 90% + Moltres etc.). I would only make this exception for 90%+ Legendaries you know you won’t get elsewhere.

Here’s what’s in the new update!

• You can now give friends Nicknames
• You can now sort friends by Name, Nickname, Friendship Level & Pending Gift
• You now receive 200 XP for sending a gift
• You can now delete specific gifts from the item menu
• You can now see the detailed location of gifts you receive from friends
• There is no longer a red dot indicating that you have unopened gifts
• The friend list no longer always opens when you have an unopened gift (Journal now opens every time)
• You can now see more than 6 raids on the nearby
• The Raid nearby list now shows remaining time on an in-progress raid
• When there is a singular raid on the nearby the icon is now centered
• You can now search for traded Pokemon with the keyword "traded"
• FIXED You can now encounter your quest reward pokemon after completing a quest
• FIXED The go-to-raid indicator no longer covers the countdown timer
• A mostly unknown "Lucky Pokemon" framework now exists in the Pokedex - rumored to be pokemon you dont need stardust to power up

I am most excited about nearby raids being increased (six was too few), friendship sorting and lucky Pokémon
