Finally got to the last take before Mew. How on earth do I do an Excellent Curveball? I can sometimes do a Great Curveball but the excellent one seems impossible. I’ve watched some YouTube videos but to no avail. Any tips?

Hello people, newbie poster in this thread! I'm level 39, almost 2/5 of the long slog through to level 40. Overly fond of shinies and very much looking forward to Shiny Charizard day :)

DaftCat - there is a knack to it, and some Pokemon are easier than others. I'd suggest trying on Wailmer, Spheal or Jynx. Have you watched the videos on how to set your circle?

Welcome VickieCherry. Someone around here did the whole of level 39 in less than 3 weeks recently , so get cracking!

DaftCat Excellent curves balls - take your time and go quite gently, you don't need to spin frantically. And pick the right mon, I find Mr Mime easy and there's plenty of them around.

ExeterCathedral was that during the double XP event? I did most of level 38 during that, but it was hard work! Very impressive. I don't have much time to raid - rarely more than one a day - so can't do the crazy multiple raids on a lucky egg many do to gain XP.

I currently have the Three Excellent Throws in a Row task for the third time, and am biding my time until I find a good crop of Pokemon to try on.

It encompassed the first week or so of the double XP for raids VickieCherry, they did a lot raids on lucky eggs that week! Still very impressive though.

I did that 3 excellent in a row twice when you got either an Onix or Larvitar for it. Both times I got an Onix . I threw it away every time I got it after that, not amused!

We have a mew!!!! DD literally peed herself from happiness.

Nice one. I went out to buy groceries, this morning and came home with a 91% latios. My first raid legendary.

@VickieCherry welcome to the thread, Level 39, wow. I'm slogging my way through Level 36 and need to have a clearout ahead of Saturday.

I'll have what our group call my fanclub about on Saturday, they range in age from 5-9 and bound up to me to show me every catch. It's really quite sweet but just a bit bewildering.

Me too Doctor. Every 20,000 is 1% and I'm counting every step of the way! Very jealous of impressed with Vickie's level 39!

HOW much stardust???

SneakyGremlins I have nearly 1.4 million stardust; I like to save it to ensure I’m using it wisely on the right Pokemon.

It might sound like a lot, but as soon as you start using it, even on few powerful Pokémon, it isn’t. Powering up Pokémon takes a lot of stardust.

It takes 66,000 to get a Pokemon from Level 20 to Level 30 (hence why you shouldn’t evolve/power up Pokémon below Level 20).

If you power up just the 12 essential Pokémon I mentioned earlier, it would cost 792,000 dust. And those Pokémon I previously mentioned are the ones you want to be powering up when you have high IV ones.

If you power up those essential 12 plus all the legendaries released so far (total number 14, and all legendaries are worth powering up), that’s 1.7 million stardust.

Stardust is so precious and expensive it really shouldn’t be wasted - only high IV, essential Pokémon should be powered up for this reason!

I have rather a lot of stardust too at the moment. I have powered up quite a few Pokemon some nearly all the way. I don’t power up that many ones though. I didn’t power up this slaking as Whattodo told
me not to as they are rubbish. He was already level 35 when I caught him.

VickieCherry welcome. I’m on the long slog of level 39 at about 1.8 million. Only another 3.2 million to go thoughbat the raid tonight they were talking about the level going up to 45! It will be typical it will go up just as I reach it.

I also have 273 rare candies that I need to do something with. Just not quite sure what to change them to.

Murinae Yeah, with him being such a high level and CP as well I wouldn’t have powered up either. What a great catch though

The thing with Slaking is that they’re a bit contentious. While their charge move is great and can do lots of damage (and such an attractive CP too), their fast “move” is literally nothing, so they’re only good in certain situations when you know exactly how to use them to the best of their advantage.

As such, powering up is debatable! I don’t really recommend it.

WailmerGoneRogue I'm Mystic, purely because I like blue best of all the colours. I knew nothing about Pokémon before I started playing - I'm 36, so was a teenager when it was first popular.

I work in London and have a lovely raid group I've become friendly with. That definitely helps with gaining levels, as we use Discord to arrange raids rather than relying on luck. Most people I know who play are level 40 so I feel quite lowly, especially as I've played almost every day since launch!

Murinae It sounds like we're at about the same point - good luck with the grind! I really wanted to get to 40 before they raise the level cap, but I suspect they'll do it for the two year anniversary and unless there's a good double XP event, I'm not going to make it.
