Anybody remember this? No? Just me then. I managed to raid and catch Latios yesterday.

New thread, all are welcome.

Most unlike my house, but I am the Marie Kondo of pokemon storage! If it doesn't have an IV over about 87%, out it goes! The exceptions are only the ones that are rare (for me) or shiny.
If only I could apply the same principles to my clothes...

SneakyGremlins It isn’t all about high CP; you want high CP mixed with high IV, however getting both is rather hard! So it’s a balance.

If you have high CP but low IV (for me, anything under 90% is too low but YMMV), it’s not worth it, but equally, if you have a 98% Pokemon but it’s Level 7, you need to weigh up the stardust cost and whether it would be worth it.

There are actually very few Pokemon that are even worth bothering with, and even less that are worth powering up.

Pokemon you want high IVs for are:
• Tyrannitar (first form: Larvitar)
• Gyarados (first form: Magikarp)
• Dragonite (first form: Dratini)
• Machamp (first form: Machop)
• Salamence (first form: Bagon)
• Metagross (first form: Beldum)
• Aggron (first form: Aron)
• Snorlax
• Blissey (first form: Chansey)
• Rhydon (first form: Rhyhorn)
• Vaporeon (first form: Eevee)
• Slaking (first form: Slakoth) Slaking is debatable as to whether it’s worth powering up though as while its high CP is attractive, it’s fast move literally does nothing, so unless you know how to use Slaking correctly, it would be a waste to power up

As well as all Legendary Pokemon (note: Mew is a mythical Pokemon, not Legendary, and is not worth bothering with).

I would not evolve any of the above Pokemon that you’re struggling for candies for, as you’re a low level, so it’s advisable to wait until you’re much higher to attract higher CP and higher IVs.

The above Pokemon are the main ones that count. There are others that are specialist within their fields due to their type and movesets, but if you’re unsure, I wouldn’t waste your precious stardust.

I also definitely would absolutely not power anything up until you’re at least Level 25, though Level 30 would be better. While it’s tempting to, stardust is very rare!

Thankyou so much! screenshots

My second favourite pokemon...

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/05/2018 21:48

I’ve been quite lucky with my 100% Pokemon; my best of course is my 100% Tyrannitar Smile

My other 100% Pokemon are:
• Machamp
• Altaria
• Wailord
• Ekans

So 4 out of 5 of my 100% are actually pretty good Grin

My precious!

SneakyGremlins · 14/05/2018 21:49

Ooooh so some of my low level Pokémon could have 100% IV? I know they all have shit CP

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/05/2018 21:50

SneakyGremlins You’re very welcome Smile I’m always happy to help!

UrgentScurryfunge A 98% Rhydon will be amazing when we get Gen IV and you can evolve it into the beast that is Rhyperior! Grin

SneakyGremlins · 14/05/2018 21:51

I'm only just getting into the game Grin under Doctor's orders to exercise more

UrgentScurryfunge · 14/05/2018 21:52

I'm trying to keep that rhyhorn candy hoarded for Gen 4. I've got a good cast of Rhydons so no great need to evolve more unless they are particularly fantastic.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/05/2018 21:53

Ooooh so some of my low level Pokémon could have 100% IV? I know they all have shit CP

SneakyGremlins Absolutely! Just like some of your really high CP Pokemon could have 0% IV Grin It’s highly unlikely, but unfortunately possible!

CP does not reflect on IV; so a higher CP does not mean a higher IV - they’re completely independent of each other.

UrgentScurryfunge · 14/05/2018 21:57

Not many other remarkable IVs in my collection. There is a 100% Areodactyl.

I can't bring myself to ditch the 0% Mudkip though. It's special in it's own way 😂

One local player specialises in his 10CP collection. I also keep my 22CP Rhyhorn for a laugh. He's good when my instinct friend and I take turns to control a gym and use weak pokemon for a token fight. It's nice to make it a balanced battle Wink

SneakyGremlins · 14/05/2018 22:04

I was amused by this IV/CP combo!

BeesAndMist · 14/05/2018 22:12

Stupid question alert - how’s do you see IV levels?

Murinae · 14/05/2018 22:27

We use the pokegenie app

Murinae · 14/05/2018 22:28

Didn’t know you could order them according to iv. Just tried it and here’s mine

SneakyGremlins · 14/05/2018 22:28

Do you have to scan them all first?

Murinae · 14/05/2018 22:33

I only do the ones that are appraised as wonders and sometimes I delete ones
I have t checked as I’m lazy so have probably transferred a few good ones. Appraise then screenshot and look in poke genie

SneakyGremlins · 14/05/2018 22:35

Ooooh

Murinae · 14/05/2018 22:35

Think it’s different for iPhones and android phones but not sure how

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/05/2018 23:16

SneakyGremlins You will only see the IV for a Pokemon you’ve screenshot and put into the app (however, Android does work slightly differently, and there’s also a paid version of PokeGenie you can buy where it adds them automatically).

To narrow down a Pokemon’s range and get an accurate IV percentage (as I can see from your screenshot you have unsure percentages), you need to put in the Pokemon’s appraisal.

To do that, once you’ve screenshot a Pokemon into PokeGenie, scroll down to Set Appraisal (just under Power Up and Evolution). Once you’ve done that you may find your percentage goes up or down!

SneakyGremlins · 14/05/2018 23:17

Ooooh okay, will have a play around with that tomorrow! Smile

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/05/2018 23:19

SneakyGremlins In your Ekans screenshot, it says “Show All 12 IV combinations”, and the stats don’t have an exact number; that’s because you haven’t added the Pokemon’s appraisal.

Once you add the appraisal, your Ekans may be higher than 95% (though it will not be 100% as they never need the appraisal as the stats are all 15/15) or lower than 95% Smile

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/05/2018 23:20

SneakyGremlins You’re welcome Smile The appraisal is an important feature to add as it gives you the Pokemon’s true IV Smile
