Anybody remember this? No? Just me then. I managed to raid and catch Latios yesterday.

New thread, all are welcome.

@Efferlunt you give me hope that I might get a Lapras one day!

SneakyGremlins · 05/06/2018 13:35

I'm waiting! Don't worry Smile

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/06/2018 14:23

Lapras was a raid boss for a long time last year so I have loads of them. I used it a fair bit in battles and raids, but now we have better choices I don’t know anyone who battles with it anymore.

Good for the Dex if you don’t have one, though.

MrsJamin · 05/06/2018 16:06

What time does the stone type pokemon thing end? 9pm? I've got a gazillion Aron, geodudes, arbuto and lileep to evolve now. They have been disappointingly low IV so I'm not really keeping any. No shinies either!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/06/2018 16:22

MrsJamin Adventure Week featuring rock Pokémon ends tonight at 9pm.

GreenShadow · 05/06/2018 16:29

Any Ingress players out there? Or any of you clever people who understand how the cells/portals work?

I'm interested because apparently my office has been nominated as a portal for Ingress (I'm going to have to be so restrained during office hours if accepted!!).
They said that if accepted either it, or a nearby church (currently a PokeStop) would become a gym and the other a PokeStop (presumably something to do with being in the same cell??). They aren't that close and yet in any town centre, you have numerous Stops and Gyms close together. Any explanation?

PickAChew · 05/06/2018 16:53

Aron are good for grinding for XP, mrsJ B-)

No luck with shinies during this event, but I did catch these, while I was out, today!

GreenShadow I do not play Ingress, but I do know you have to be at least Level 11 and you have a submission cap.

The cell structure is how the game is built; Pokemon Go and Ingress are built on top of S2 cells. Simply put, S2 cells are a way of turning the 3D Earth into a 2D image.

Different cells do different things, and there are very complex parameters on which cells can hold Pokestops and gyms and how many of them they can hold.

There is no simple explanation; you’d need to do a lot of background reading and research.

rainingcatsanddog · 05/06/2018 20:10

I've seen the Ingress portal nominations discussed and explained on Reddit Silph Road.

Anybody got an EX Raid pass in tonight's round of them being handed out? Lots of people with 2 EX Raids on the same day and even the same time Confused

rainingcatsanddog · 05/06/2018 20:25

The S2 cells are created in OSM (Open StreetMap) I've only looked to see if I could find local EX Raid eligible gyms.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/06/2018 20:36

rainingcatsanddog No, the cells are not created in OpenStreetMap. Google invented them and uses them extensively in Google Maps.

Every so often, Pokemon Go will update their map using OSM data, but the cells were already created with the original game Ingress, hence why the S2 cells are the same and they can submit stops.

MrsJamin · 05/06/2018 21:37

@PickAChew grinding the Aron for their XP is exactly my plan! Have a 96% IV Aggron so I don't need any of these.

Efferlunt · 05/06/2018 23:30

Sorry what does ‘grinding for the xp’ mean?

iheartmichellemallon · 05/06/2018 23:34

Evolving them to get the XP to level up I assume (although in my mind, they are ground up when transferred!)

DoctorTwo · 06/06/2018 00:45

Sorry what does ‘grinding for the xp’ mean?

Grinding for XP is purely walking around chucking balls at everything and catching vermin to help you through a level. So called because when you get above Level 30 progression can feel like a grind.

Grinding up for candy is different: that's just mincing shit level 'Mon for an extra candy each time.

bettytaghetti · 06/06/2018 01:04

rainingcatsanddog yup, me! Fortunately quite a few of us from our WhatsApp group did too so we're coordinating lifts between the two which are mercifully not too far apart!

Had a fifth and final go at catching Latios tonight and despite getting quite a few great and excellent balls, the damn thing just wouldn't stay caught. Aargh! I'm taking it personally; latios obviously hates me Grin

SneakyGremlins · 06/06/2018 15:35

What's this walking to evolve??

Pokemon Go #16. Cast adrift on memory Blissey of you.
WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/06/2018 15:40

What's this walking to evolve??

SneakyGremlins You can only evolve Feebas once you have walked it 20km.

It is also only applicable to the Feebas you walk. So if you walk one Feebas 20km, that is the only one you can evolve unless you walk another Feebas 20km; the walking candies aren’t transferred between Feebas’.

So you want to make sure you have the highest IV Feebas possible before walking it 20km.

SneakyGremlins · 06/06/2018 15:42

I'll check the IV now! Terrible CP though.

Are there any other Pokémon that do this?

Appreciate the help!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/06/2018 15:53

SneakyGremlins No worries Smile No, there are no other Pokémon that require it.

I personally waited quite a while for a high IV one and eventually settled on 91%.

Feebas, like Magikarp, do generally have low CP. Its max CP is 220, but that doesn’t guarantee high IVs.

You do also need to have 100 Feebas candy as well as walking it 20km to evolve, so since you only have 28, I would wait until you have enough candies and see what your best IV one is then; especially since you will probably be a higher level by then.

SneakyGremlins · 06/06/2018 18:36

Thankyou! This is the first one I've ever come across - hatched it from a 10K egg!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/06/2018 18:50

SneakyGremlins You’re welcome Smile Yeah, 80% is quite low so I would wait until you’ve got enough candies to evolve to see if you have a high IV one, and if so, evolve that one.

MrsJamin · 07/06/2018 06:51

Very high maintenance aren't they, feebas?!

UrgentScurryfunge · 07/06/2018 10:02

I'm enjoying filling the gaps of the legendaries in my pokedex from before the Whatsapp groups settled last summer.

I have a gap for Hitmontop which is annoying. All the others are either Gen 3 waiting for enough candy to evolve, legendary or regional.

Currently walking Beldum. The reduced candy distance last week was very much appreciated. Unfortunately though, my go plus got very stubborn about connecting for my half marathon on Sunday, so 22km of candy walking opportunity went to waste Confused
