Here we go with a shiny new thread.

We've got over 100 messages to go in this one but I'll try to remember to start one in a few days.

I need a trip on the crawly bus into the Toon, tomorrow. I'm constantly low on red balls because not much warrants anything better, save the odd weather boosted CP 1000+ machop. With it being it's 3rd consecutive event, I'm well on my way to a beefy machamp party.

I have a few good abras that need evolving to pulverise all these raid primape, too.

And that’s interesting about stops and gums disappearing. In my hiatus of playing there is a new pokestop very near me but I have noticed two have disappeared. One is a residential house and the other is a Masonic lodge which is next door to a funeral parlour. So I can see the issue to be fair.

OMG! I have finally done it, after days and days and literally 100s of Pokemon I have thrown my excellent curveball. Hallelujah! Got it on Mukahira. Now before I claim my rewards does anyone know if I drop a lucky egg and a stardust star will I get extra XP and stardust?

Passmethecrisps I name all my Pokemon with their IV percentage and their level, so I know how good they are.

With shinies, I don’t so much care about the IVs (although I’m very happy with my 93% shiny Gyarados!), but with regular Pokémon I prefer 90%+ IVs.

I have 25 shinies overall, 7 of which came from outside of events (one shiny Magikarp, two shiny Gyarados, one shiny Pichu, one shiny Wailmer and one shiny Swablu); the rest were from community days.

I go around singing ‘Kakuna, ratata, what a wonderful game’ to DD when we’re playing. Had a new gym pop up at the edge of town this week - exciting times!

It sucks that gyms can disappear though - especially if you’ve built up your badges.

Yes, get that egg dropped because you'll have loads and loads of xp to collect!

I have my 7-day field research aligned with my 7-day spin and catch streaks; each week I lucky egg and star piece them. If I have a batch of a few 10K eggs, I also time those to hatch during the 30min and fill the rest of the time with pidgey-type evolving. It gives a nice uplift in xp and dust each week. Definitely worth doing if you have enough lucky eggs and star pieces for it.

I usually do it at midnight (night owl), but this week I might wait until morning and incorporate a raid.

Two new additions to my shiny family, far luckier this event than normal!

your stardust rewards from special or field research tasks DO NOT get multiplied by star pieces.

I don't know about a Lucky Egg for XP but I do know that star pieces definitely don't work.

Oh also I too managed to catch both shiny meditite and makuhita yesterday morning. within about 2 mins of one another. They're both totally pathetic in terms of CP. But they've ticked the boxes on the pokedex. also evolved my meditite to a medicham to get that shiny box ticked too.

The xp you get from a raid whether successful or not is multiplied, mind. I sat on a park bench and allowed latias to pulverise some vermin just for the stardust and rare candy, this morning.

And that should be the stardust you get from a raid. These temperatures in double figures are melting my poor northern brain

@PickAChew she's not talking about a raid though. She's talking about completing her Mew research tasks and collecting the completion rewards plus Mew.

The bonus stardust and rare candy are an event thing that people might not be aware of, though and I thought it was worth making the point that that particular reward is affected by a starpiece.

That's a fair point.

I solo'd a Hitmonlee this morning and got 4 rare candy. Then did a Latias at lunchtime and got 7. 😁

Got my Zapdos this morning and a decent Onix from a field task. Still working my way through the 10gym task.

Plans to spend a sunny bank holiday weekend sitting near the gym in the Park have been scuppered though. Festival + licensed bar = bag search + no liquids except those bought at the bar.

Although the bag searcher did miss the small bottle of water so I could try and sneak another one in.

I don't want to say for sure about now, but when I did the special research tasks I put a lucky egg on for the last few claims and got double XP on them.

But if it was unintentional that it did double it may have been "fixed" like the raid task by now.

Yeah I'm less sure on the egg XP side of things. But I do know categorically that starpieces do not give you extra stardust from special research rewards.

I see there's another event after this one. Unless they do a ghost event one day I'm never going to find these ghosts. Never thought I'd miss my evening shuppet plague!
