OMG! I cant do it! I cant throw an excellent curveball. This is doing my head in. I have watched so many youtube videos and googled pages. It just doesn't seem to work for me. I either miss completely or get great or nice curveballs. I'm worried that after tomorrow, 1st May, I wont be able to get my Mew. Are they changing that as well as the Moltres? If I knew anyone else that played pokemon I would seriously get them to do the excellent curveball for me, but I dont. I'm going to be stuck on this last special research forever and ever and ever.

Tummy Mew isn't changing tomorrow, just the Research Breakthrough reward Pokemon (from Moltres to Zapdos). You've got time to get Mew, don't worry! You'll get your curve ball excellent when you least expect it

It's thought that the next lot of special research will follow on from the new quest rather than replace it.

did anyone find a shiny whale (part of the earth day rewards) I have been catching loads but not a sniff....

No shiny whale here either, and I’ve also caught a whole school of them! Annoyed with myself this morning. Waited to redeem my field research as it was changing to Zapdos but didn’t check what time today. So I have another Moltres. Ah well.

@lokijet I didn't get a single shiny during the event, only four in our local group did.

@tumpymummy it took me days to get an excellent throw, it finally happened when a Ponyta popped up whilst a mate and I were in the pub. Ponyta has a huge aiming ring so I span the ball and timed it right.

Yes, I caught a shiny Wailmer

They are still available to catch! Once a shiny is released, that’s it, it’s out there (bar Lugia, obviously), so keep clicking on each and every one you see as it could still be shiny.

During the event it was about a 1:500 drop rate for shiny Wailmer, but now Wailmer spawns have decreased that will probably change.

Waited to redeem my field research as it was changing to Zapdos but didn’t check what time today. So I have another Moltres. Ah well.

Shame It’s the same as the start time for all events/additions/changes, which is 9pm.

Efferlunt I’ve had a 100% Wailord for a few months now and I’ve never used it (and I battle and raid every day), so if you like the look of a shiny Wailord you could go for that

I got a shiny karp as my first ever shiny, over a year ago. I checked it's IVs recently: 28% :o still going to evolve it though...

No shiny Wailmer for me - have got nearly 700 candies now though, so will evolve my first one fairly soon (once I get my list sorted of what else I need to do!).

But all I want for Christmas is another ghost type, my special research is taking forever.

Still no shiny magikarp for me either, even though I’ve caught over 300 of the buggers. DH - of course - caught a shiny Wailmer 🙄

I’ve seen 462 Magikarp and had 3 shiny ones (one of which was 93%). I also caught my shiny Swablu after only seeing about thirty of them at the time (seen 376 now) so I’ve been quite lucky! With Wailmer I’ve seen 196 and got one shiny.

I’ve hatched a shiny shuppet, but it’s a pretty rubbish one. Still love it though. Gives me that sticker packet opening thrill when you see stars appear around a pokemon 😄

I've just checked my stats,

I've seen 298 karp and no shinies.

Before the start of this even I'd only seen 54 wailmer. I have now seen 347 and still no shiny. Obviously I know that is the shiny rate was 1:500 then I haven't caught my 'share' of wailmers to be 'due' a shiny but it is still frustrating and it feels like I've done nothing but catch wails and karps for the last week ha.

I’ve seen 484 magicarp and caught 430 no shiny and seen 144 wailmer and caught 109 and no shiny either

Hi chaps. I was on these threads way back when we were excited by catching weedles and their hat of disappointment. I fell away from the game but have rediscovered it recently.

I wanted to share with someone and as dh will not understand I FINALLY CAUGHT A DITTO!

I have been collecting bloody magikarp candies for about a year and finally have enough to evolve but now can’t as to want to save that for the challenge. Now I just need 20 ghost types

For ghost types it’s best to go out after about 9pm into town or near a cemetery. They spawn mainly at night.

Thanks murinae. Two little kids so limited opportunity but at least that is in my hands. I was really irritated by the ditto task.

I haven’t been aware of any shiny Pokemon but I haven’t been looking out for them either

The new event is going to excellent for xp and dust for those who raid. Very happy with it!
