Still no chuffing Mareep from a 2km egg, and a 10km hatched a fucking Sudowoodo. Harumph.

Hatched my first Slakoth! Then funnily enough, caught one two minutes later

They're both wonders The one I hatched is 84% and the one I caught is 89%, which is unusual, though the hatched one is obviously Level 20, whereas the caught is only Level 17.

If I powered up to level 30, it would be 3,839 CP, so yes, definite beast of a Pokemon!

They're still not high enough for me to even consider evolving; I only have 30 candies, so I'll wait until I have 125 and hopefully will have a 95%+ one that I've hatched. If not I'll settle for anything 90%.

WhatToDo - Despite being level 30 myself, I'm still pretty ignorant about lots of the finer points of the game. How do you tell what level a Pokemon is?

GreenShadow The game itself doesn't tell you; I find out by putting them into PokeGenie to find out their IV and it telling me.

However, if you're over level 20, eggs and raids automatically come out at level 20; hence why a hatch is nearly always better than a catch

GreenShadow For example, my two Slakoths. The one level 17, that I caught, even though it's a much better IV, will cost me an extra 20,000 stardust when trying to get it to level 30 because it's started three levels behind.

So there really are lots of complex factors at play when deciding which Pokemon are the right ones to evolve and power up.

I do occasionally use PokeGenie but had never spotted the Level bit.

I've not done much in the way of raids or serious battles, so haven't had to look into the best beasts to power up etc but I have just joined a Facebook group in my local town so may start doing more of that. I think I've got a lot of research to do!

Managed to get enough candy to evolve my 98% machop today. Been waiting ages for that. Unfortunately has a really crap move set, but you can’t have everything. 😂

Really loving the weather stuff. Has totally got rid of the never ending supply of magnemites I get when at home. So much more variety in what’s turning up.

GreenShadow You're welcome On the main page with a list of all the screenshotted Pokemon, it has the level next to the IV percentage, and it's also on the picture of the Pokemon when you click on an individual one.

Sounds great about your local group! Our towns group is a great network, both for Pokemon and otherwise.

I would note that since stardust is so hard to get hold of, you want to make sure you're spending it wisely!

I'm loving the weather update in the game. Spawns around where I live are dreadful- we never see rare Pokemon like this. The weather dependant spawns have really given the game a massive lift, along with Gen 3

Legendary raids are unlikely unless I can find someone to join in. Never mind. I have another 95%+ one anyway. Maybe he’ll have a better move set when I can evolve him.

Managed to get a Groudon on the first try which is a relief as not sure how much I'll be able to get out over the rest of the festive season.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay That's a shame You do need a minimum of about 8 people to do legendary raids, and more is always better.

Perhaps there's a Fb or whatsapp group for your local town?

I just missed a mareep spawn yesterday. Nevermind. My amphoros is guarding the nearby woodland. Meantime, this bear can shit in the woods!

I've had 2x10km eggs this last week, both were Mareep. I was not impressed.

Oh well, it was 5 candies in the pot. I'd love to hatch a decent Mareep.

I keep getting Ponyta from 5ks. It doesn't help that I visit the same loop of pokestops most days, so I tend to get stuck on multiples of egg types. Shame they're rarely highly desirable types!

UrgentScurryfunge That's a shame about the Flaaffy, as Ampharos is such an amazing electric Pokemon that you really do want it to be a wonder (especially since Mareeps are so rare!).

kua No, it's not a weather reaction; it's a glitch.

It's the same animation that happens when you see gyms being fought.

It usually happens to me when I've gone to look at my Pokemon in a gym but someone's fighting it so I can't; then it gives me that animation and I have to restart the game.

Got a Groudon today. Narrowly missed on first attempt then more people turned up and got it the second time with plenty of time left with 15 players.

@kua I watched my local gym being battled earlier and got the graphic you have there. What is weird is the battler only took down 4 of the 6 gym dwellers. Why didn't she/he take down the gym properly? Mind you, it was cold here today...

Anyway, almost time for a new thread. Anybody got ideas for a title? I have one that's a lot reminiscent of 90s dance music. That might be good for those of us who were in our prime back then. Not me, I was past my prime even then. :o

Here's hoping for a crackin' Xmas event, double xp and stardust would be lovely.
