Despite only really playing at the weekend due to working I'm now 180k through Level 31. Today I cheated somewhat. The M25 was stationary, so I opened the app and left it on. I had 8 eggs cooking and between junctions 18 and 22 managed to hatch 7 of them. Mantine, 2x Exegcute, Krabby, Eevee, Togepi and Magby.

Congrats Abbey on reaching Level 30, and commiserations Spammy on not being able to log in.

We went to Whitstable today and it was full of Electrodes and Magnemites. You would think that a seaside town would be full of water pokemon, but no. I did manage to leave two of my pokemon in two gyms, I hope someone feeds them for me.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 01/07/2017 19:13

I had the same, Dillite, in Seaton. I was expecting Magikarp and whatnot but got about 150 candies worth of Magnemites which is great for gen 4.

It took my steel badge from my worst (even worse than Dragon) to silver! I don't know if I can get much further away from the ocean than where I live, which is probably why my we never see them here.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 01/07/2017 19:15

Are Whistable or Seaton near power stations? You get lots of electric Pokemon near power stations.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 01/07/2017 19:18

I don't think so, but can't be sure.

When I say I couldn't get further away from the ocean, that's a bit of an exaggeration Grin I don't live in central Africa or something. But, apparently, my nearest 'seaside' place is Venice!

Dillite2 · 01/07/2017 19:35

No, no power stations there as far as I know. There are wind turbines far into the sea but I don't think those count.

PickAChew · 01/07/2017 19:43

Won our first raid battle, today and I caught a completely unremarkable magmar, just like all the other magmar I've hatched! I pitted my double dark gyarados against it, though, and that took huge chunks out of it every time I used the special move, despite not being super effective.

We took down the gym before the raid started. It had 6 fully motivated Pokémon in. We got in there with 3 minutes to spare and ended up frantically throwing berries to stay in there! It worked and we stayed in a whole 92 minutes, which is as long as that gym ever stays put, anyhow!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 01/07/2017 19:59

My 10k egg? A fucking Gligar.

Sums up my fucking day.

inniu · 01/07/2017 20:49

I didn't realise that 2 different versions of the same Pokemon could have different moves. I have probably discarded good Pokemon without knowing.

Oh yes. Pokemon can end up with any moves, really, even moves not related to their type.

I have a double dark Arcanine, for example, and that's a fire Pokemon.

The moves and their types are exceptionally important. But, when a Pokemon evolves, it doesn't keep its moves, so you should only care about the final evolutions moves.

DameDeDoubtance · 01/07/2017 21:41

I have him at long last!!!!!! Congrats on the Blissey Soubriquet

Seaside towns are stuffed with magnetons and voltorbs. We live near one and they are like a swarm, no idea why they are there though.

Evolved another Kingra too.

Met a load of poke huntersraiding! We were late to the party and couldn't stick around. It was lovely to see this large group moving through the town, one gran on a bike, a ton of teens and parents with kids.

Ooh and double dark, too, DameDeDoubtance! That's brilliant!

53rdWay · 01/07/2017 22:10

I've picked up a lot of electric Pokemon near the sea - seems to be a lot near docks.

Bimblesalong · 01/07/2017 22:48

Lovely blissey.

I thought I had an unown showing up whilst I was walking the dog in the cornfields nearby today.

Thunderbug on my phone screen.

Bimblesalong · 01/07/2017 22:49

Oh my word, Dame, he is fiiiiiine!

DameDeDoubtance · 01/07/2017 23:12

I worry that I will miss an unown because you can't see them.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 01/07/2017 23:34

You can see them, DameDeDoubtance.

They'll look like this when you encounter them; just like any other Pokemon. You won't miss it (and your phone will buzz to alert you of a new Pokemon anyway).

I ventured out at 23:45 to spin a pokestop to claim day 7 of the streak. Another pokemon is out of a gym for 50 coins, leaving one in. Gym activity is much higher on the weekend, so the chances are favourable that it'll be knocked out and I get the daily coins again... maybe...

DoctorTwo · 02/07/2017 02:28

I took part in my first gym raids yesterday. For the initial one two of us took down a Bayleef which I then caught, taking me up to 218. Don't know if my battling buddy caught it too as there was nobody else within 100m.

My second raid was against a 1150CP Magikarp. My Magneton made short work of the battle. I took it down ON MY OWN! Shock :o I was quite chuffed about that.

I made my battling choices thanks to you WhatToDo. Your advice on pitting Fire against Grass and Electric against Water etc helped me choose appropriate 'Mon, and seeing 'Super effective' over my opponent was just wonderful.

Now I find out that the same 'Mon have move sets that make them specialists against other 'Mon. Really? Blimey. This game is more nuanced than I thought.

That's great news! Smile Magneton was a great choice and a magikarp from a raid will be a perfect candidate to turn into a Gyarados so I'd definitely favourite it.

Yep, there's a lot more to it than you'd think! Moves really are what make or break a battle.

I love battling anyway, but raids are just so much fun Grin

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 02/07/2017 08:27

Hi all, I've not been doing much lately as been on holiday with limited signal. What was great though is at our accommodation there were a lot of ones I never see. Got a lot more Abra candy and new to the dex are Dunsparce and Usaring. Also one away from my fairy and ground medals.

DameDeDoubtance · 02/07/2017 09:24

I love Dunsparce, they are so cool looking, really alien.

We're heading out later to find some 1 or 2 header raids which we can handle on our own. Might have a look at some others but don't want to commit unless I see other people.

Is there a chart that lists what type of mon is good against other mon?

The game is nuanced which is why we are all still playing almost a year later. Ultimately I am here for the dex as I love collecting but I really enjoy the gyms too, especially now!

I would love an egg overhaul now too, or at least if they rotated them once in a while!

DameDeDoubtance · 02/07/2017 09:25

Oooo found this

DameDeDoubtance · 02/07/2017 09:35

Types to use

Natsku · 02/07/2017 09:52

Need to remember not to bother taking over any gyms today as I already got my 50 coins from my overnight Snorlax.

Just checked and all my eevee evolutions are double whatever

CrazedZombie · 02/07/2017 10:02

Here's a pic for the tiers 3 and 4 raids
