S. Bowl of spelt flakes and molasses

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 27/06/2021 22:13

Outdoor theatre in California sounds amazing @KobaniDaughters. What was on?
@ppeatfruit I made the galette but not the ice cream (I'm a Swedish glacé girl 😬) I made this recipe, which was very nice (although DH says it's not a galette as that should be a pancake rather than pastry) www.lazycatkitchen.com/vegan-strawberry-galette/#ingredients-box

Yesterday
B: muesli with seeds, flakes almonds, nectarine and blueberries with soya milk
D: black pudding and square sausage from the Simon howie breakfast pack (best ones IMO), baked beans, beefsteak tomato, mushrooms, hash brown, spinach, avocado, slice of toast
S: salt and vinegar flava beans, curried chickpeas, salted nuts, olives, fry's chocolate cream

Today
B: muesli with flakes almonds, seeds, mango, raspberries and soya milk
L: lentil, roasted sweet potato and red onion, pomegranate molasses salad
D: pizza (frozen dough from Tesco) with hm pizza sauce topped with kinda co mozzarella, capers, jalapeños, black olives and artichoke hearts

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 27/06/2021 22:37

Oh, and a big salad with the pizza and a mango sorbet cornetto for pudding 😋

ppeatfruit · 28/06/2021 12:26

Part Time Tell your dh from a person who lives in France that a galette (according to my dictionary) is a cake that is "rond et plat" Grin I'm not a pedant I think the buckwheat pancakes in the north can be called galettes too.

B. raspberry\strawberry and apple almond smoothie.
L. Marinaded tofu with peas, spinach and mushrooms
S.Ryvitas with pnut butter olive oil and yeast spread. with a decaff soya capuzi.

KobaniDaughters · 28/06/2021 15:57

Open air theatre was a local small theatre that turned their car park into an outdoor stage. It was lovely to see live performances but honestly the play wasn’t suited to an outdoor space and it was a shame they made it pros-arch because there are fun and creative things you can do when the seating isn’t set (I make alternative space theatre and immersive events!) but was nice to be out.

We leave for the U.K. in a week so I need all your best vegan goodie suggestions to ask my mum to get in - the black pudding sounds good!!

Yesterday:
B: a waffle and maple syrup
L: butternut squash, avocado and pineapple tacos, strawberry shortbread cookies
D: falafel, cabbage and tahini pita
S: peanuts, salt and vinegar crisps with caramelised onion dip, watermelon

OP posts:
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 28/06/2021 22:30

@ppeatfruit you don't need to be a pedant, that's my DH's job 😂 We did eat them in the north(ish) as pancakes but I'm taking that to mean that both are right 😉
@KobaniDaughters frustrating for you that you could see ways they could have done it better! How long are you over for? We really like the black pudding, but the only place down south that I know to buy them is from vegankind supermarket online. I try to spend £65 so that the chilled delivery only costs £1 (otherwise it's about £8!) and the most annoying thing is that they clearly say they've been frozen before so can't be frozen and need to be eaten within 4 days of delivery. I like them enough to work around that though and order store cupboard things, snacks and sometimes vitamins or artisanal nut cheese to qualify for the delivery. How long are you over for this time?

B: Monday smoothie
L: same lentil salad as yesterday with some beetroot, tomatoes and the kinda co mozzarella added. Mango
D: 2 Richmond sausages, new potatoes, broad beans, tenderstem, carrots and roasted asparagus with gravy

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 28/06/2021 22:31

Oops, didn't mean to ask how long you are over for twice @KobaniDaughters 🙈😂. It's been a long day...

KobaniDaughters · 29/06/2021 00:58

Back for a month!! Will test to release day 5 I think even though all the tests will add £600-700 Onto our trip

Will add Richmond sausages onto my mum’s list

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 29/06/2021 12:21

Grin my dh too! PartTime

Kobani Yes the testing is crazy expensive, ,Just for me to go to Eng. it cost us 765 euros (including the trains and taxi across Paris . We're both pensioners so are thinking seriously about my doing another trip, (so annoying considering I've had 2 Pfizer jabs and loads of negative tests, oh and I've had Cov. mildly). Sorry for the rant!

B. Finished apricot apple and fig smoothie
L. HM pesto sauce with rice pasta.
Sn. S. picked at tinned dolmades and pasta

KobaniDaughters · 29/06/2021 19:06

D: baked violife feta and cherry tomatoes, roast squash and crusty bread

OP posts:
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 29/06/2021 21:17

I'd be ranting about that much money @ppeatfruit

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 01/07/2021 23:42

That's interesting @ppeatfruit! I used to have a book by Elizabeth David, can imagine how revolutionary some of her 'continental' cooking was when she published. I love that sort of social history type stuff

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 02/07/2021 08:33

I love social history too Part I suppose i'm part of it! I remember the first avocado we ate in the 70s! I have Jane Grigson's Vegetable Book cook book which is brilliant because it gives good recipes for a every type of veg. known then but she wouldn't be impressed by vegans! Strangely she sometimes sneers at veg being 'healthy' Grin

B. White nectarines\lemon\ dates\ almond butter\almond milk smoothie
L.Bowl of steamed cauliflour with spelt toast\dried basil and olive oil.
S. Bowl of gf oats, almond milk with spelt flakes and molasses

Hello again everyone! I haven't posted recently as I fell into a rut of doing the same meals every week and I was boring myself.

Another vote for Richmond meat-free kobani - my other staples are Tesco free-from soy yoghurt which is the only one I know of that doesn't have added sugar, and DD's new favourite, Quorn Roarsomes.
