I do like essential oils! The tofu quiche was almost home made - I buy ready made pastry, but the filling I made myself. Silken tofu, tiny bit of black salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, turmeric and 2tbsp plant milk.

I also made a big batch of hummus and fear I have killed my Vitamix :(

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 05/07/2021 12:33

I'm still here @ppeatfruit! Were you feeling lonely?
I've had another lovely weekend which involved visiting old old friends in Yorkshire. I went on the train so as to leave the car with DH for his cricket dad duties. Friends live in a town called Malton, which it turns out has an amazing vegan cafe. It was closed this weekend, but my friend stocked his fridge and I ate my way through mixed salads (potato, carrot and butter bean salads, plus a couple of slaws), a filo pastry Moroccan pie and part of a burrito. I bought a loaf of sourdough and some flora plant butter/marmite for breakfasts and we drank far too much and ate loads of crisps/nuts. Also from the vegan cafe I had 3 different cakes! One Apple strudel, one carrot cake and one chocolate/berry cake. All of which were incredible.
Train journey back yesterday involved a last portion of mixed salads, and there was a Leon at Birmingham New Street so I got a roasted veg with aubergine and sumac onions from there. DD18 cooked dinner last night when I got home, which was a large mixed salad, garlic bread and spaghetti with ragu. The ragu was from one of her recipe books, no lentils or veggie mince but chopped nuts for the protein element. Was very tasty
Oh, and on the train on the way up on Friday I took leftover Dan Dan noodles but forgot cutlery, so had to improvise and use a couple of coffee stirrers as chopsticks 😂

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 05/07/2021 12:54

Waves to @KarmaViolet and @vincettenoir too

Wow your Yorkshire weekend sounds goooood Part I always leave my car here when I travel to Eng. it's so much more freeing isn't it?

I find houmous blows me right out, so I don't eat it . Violet I make a white bean and \garlic \beetroot dip which does the trick when I'm in a dip mood! I love silken tofu for lots of things too, it's impossible to tell the difference between it and dairy cream.

Kobani Sorry I was thinking you went last weekend. Grin have a good trip. Grin

B. Apricot, lemon, apple, ground linseeds smoothie
L. Finished my pesto\lettuce soup with oat crackers and yeast spread.
S. Bowl of spelt flakes\rice puffs and almond milk\molasses.
Sn. steamed green and broad beans.

KarmaViolet · 06/07/2021 11:16

Yesterday
B: toast
L: avocado, leftover salsa, hummus and a mini Higgidy no-pork pie - don't think I would buy those again, the taste is good but the filling is very dry.
D: leftover quiche and potato salad

KobaniDaughters · 06/07/2021 15:55

Do you just use violife feta @PartTimeDomesticGoddess or is there a better one on the market?

I LIVE on hummus @ppeatfruit!

Yesterday I finally finished shooting my film so we went for Mexican and a beer at lunchtime to celebrate and I had the most amazing mole over roasted veg and a grilled cactus salad

Squash stuff with chilli for dinner

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 06/07/2021 21:52

I even meant to tell you we've found one we prefer to @KobaniDaughters 🤦‍♀️ I think you have a sainsburys to shop at and it's their own brand. Discovered accidentally by DD18, and we both prefer it. Texture is a bit more crumbly and therefore a bit more like I remember the real thing being.
That Mexican meal sounds incredible! I've never eaten cactus before, what's it like?

FD today
L: lentil and veg hotpot
S: protein shake
D: spiced aubergine and tomato bake sprinkled with nooch, tenderstem

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 06/07/2021 21:55

@ppeatfruit it's years since I did a train journey that long and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The only thing that was not freeing about it was the price, which was

@KarmaViolet - that's what I thought of the higgidy pies too. Good pastry but a bit dry

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 06/07/2021 21:56

Train price was shocking (emoji fail)

ppeatfruit · 07/07/2021 12:34

I did get the idea Part Grin I always remind myself that the fuel costs a lot with cars, plus the parking, ( oh and the fines Grin ) repairs, servicing, taxes etc etc.I have to use one here and I HATE it. It sort of makes a hypocrite of me trying to be green. Sad

B. Finished apricot smoothie with some pumpkin seeds.
L. French green bean salad bowl with crumbled pumpernickel.
B. fried mushroom, garlic, onion on toast with salad.

ppeatfruit · 07/07/2021 12:37

Kobani Are you in the mainstream business? DD1 works for Carnival in London. You're not travelling yet then.

KobaniDaughters · 07/07/2021 17:18

@ppeatfruit trying to break into it!
@PartTimeDomesticGoddess hard to describe, not as slimey as okra but more so than most veg, very light flavour

OP posts:
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 08/07/2021 08:09

Second FD yesterday

L: sweet and hot veg curry

KarmaViolet · 08/07/2021 08:30

Yesterday:

B: toast
L: avocado, hummus, leftover potato salad
D: Full of Plants seitan in red lentil coconut curry sauce

The seitan tastes good but I wasn't able to knead it long enough - it escaped from the magimix and even resorting to the bread maker didn't make it work!

ppeatfruit · 08/07/2021 09:19

I'm trying to picture seitan Karma !

I had to go into work yesterday and then met friends, so I was out from 7am and hadn't made a packed lunch. It feels like an extraordinarily extravagant day but pre-pandemic I used to do this quite regularly!

L: avo baguette
S: another very berry croissant
D: pizza, 2 Lucky Saint beers

B: dates, greggs sausage roll
L: root veg and lentil curry
Friends for dinner again - yay! We had olives and hot nuts for nibbles. Then Meera Sodha's spaghetti with basil, chilli, lemon and pistachios, green salad, garlic bread and caprese salad. Nectarine tart and vanilla ice cream for pudding.

I made this vegan mozzarella and it was really nice. Made quite a lot more than I would want though, will do a half qty next time. Haven't tried it in a toastie yet so don't know what it's like when hot, but worked well for the salad (and my breakfast sandwich)

veganhuggs.com/vegan-mozzarella-cheese/

The nuts were really good too (take them off the baking tray as soon as they're cooked though)

www.allrecipes.com/recipe/230159/sweet-salty-spicy-party-nuts/

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2021 14:16

Oooh lucky you Part I can't wait to have people round to eat, (even it's just a vegan brownie and a cup of tea !) Is the mozzarella made with soya? (sorry I try not to link these days).
