Having just found the naturli block I think I'll need to come off this thread as I think the only food I may be eating for evermore is toast and naturli. It is soooo good.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 14/05/2021 16:19

@Breathmiller me and DD lurve naturli! I've been buying the spreadable version (which is great but turns to liquid really quickly so we've learned not to take it out of the fridge prematurely!) I'm going to try the flora plant butter on toast this weekend though, as it's a bit cheaper than naturli and more readily available

The flora plant butter is lovely, honestly not much different than real butter. Highly recommend 😋

Fivemoreminutes1 · 14/05/2021 18:45

B - chocolate, almond and raspberry porridge
L - Waldorf salad
S - malt loaf
D - fishless finger tacos

Breathmiller · 14/05/2021 19:44

Yes, we've used the spreadable stuff for a while. Couldn't get it in lockdown as it's at sainsburies which we don't have local. But this butter style block is a step much further. It is so delicious

KarmaViolet · 14/05/2021 21:48

B: toast and peanut butter
L: avocado, leftover potato salad, hot sauce
D: Friday night fridge clearance - green bean and asparagus salad with hummus and pitta, and roast sweet potato

Sn: salt and vinegar fava beans from Hodmedods, calories soluble in the virtue of eating locally Wink

Our local whole food shop has recently turned into a Planet Organic, it is now still outrageously expensive but there are now things in there I want to eat. Nipped in with DD and came out with aforementioned fave beans and some Naturli - never tried it. Plus lots of dried beans for my new Instant Pot.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 15/05/2021 13:34

@Fivemoreminutes1 your porridge combinations sound lush and are so varied!
@KarmaViolet I'm getting an instapot in the next few weeks Smile any recipes to recommend yet?

Yesterday
B: overnight oats with raspberries and seeds
L: creamy lentils and mash
D: coconut rice, chilli tofu, green beans/shallots with peanut sauce and broccoli
S: cherry tomatoes, M&S salted nuts, almond magnum

Fivemoreminutes1 · 15/05/2021 14:59

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess
It was made it almond milk, with a large spoon of hot chocolate powder stirred in and a handful of frozen raspberries (an afterthought - I need it cooled pretty quickly because I was in a rush!)

KobaniDaughters · 15/05/2021 15:44

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess I love my instapot - it takes some time to get used to in terms of how much liquid so def use recipes while you figure that out but Vegan Richa has a ton of great recipes and this is the masala sauce ever ever ever

@Fivemoreminutes1 sounds lovely!

I love overnight oats when I can be bothered/remember to do them and do almond milk, oats, frozen raspberries and a chopped date or two but might try adding hot chocolate mix next time

Yesterday (utterly failed fast day!!)
L: falafel and chickpea salad
S: 1/4 bagel with artichoke spread, handful of almond butter stuffed pretzels

For dinner I went to a friends’ back garden and we were all fully vaccinated and could HUG! It was amazing! She’s bought some bits and pieces from a local Taiwanese place that I assumed I couldn’t eat at but she has an egg allergy so she got all their vegan stuff: spring rolls, spring onion pancakes, some amazing tofu dish thing and so many dips and sauces. Also balanced with some veggie crudités ... and 2.5 glasses of red wine!

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess I'm trying to stick to a WFPB diet at least during the week (the rest of the family will riot if I do it for weekends too). So I got it mostly for doing wholegrains, beans and lentils quickly. I haven't tried a whole recipe yet but it has been great for doing lentils and dried beans in a way that's never been successful on the stovetop.

Today (non WFPB day!)
B: toast and marmite
L: sausage and avo sandwich
D: mushroom pie, mash and cabbage

Sn: more of those salt and vinegar fava beans, they're addictive.

KobaniDaughters · 16/05/2021 06:21

Oh yeah you can cook dried chickpeas from scratch in 30mins!!

OP posts:
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 16/05/2021 11:30

I've never really cooked pulses to be honest, always just bought them in tins Thanks for the tips (and vegan richa recipe!), looking forward to getting it next month
I often do my "overnight" oats in the morning @KobaniDaughters. As long as they can sit for a couple of hours they're fine

Yesterday was
B: mocha, toasted chocolate chip panettone with flora butter (which is now in the family butter dish, me and DD15 think we'll get it past DH without him realising which is the ultimate test Wink)
L: spicy bean burger, tomatoes, beetroot, avocado, pea shoots and a handful of lambs lettuce
D: nut roast, roast potatoes/butternut/cauliflower, peas, carrots, broccoli and gravy
S: handful of salt and vinegar flavarings, double ginger and apple cake with custard

KobaniDaughters · 16/05/2021 20:05

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess DD eats so many chickpeas and DS and I eat so much hummus doing chickpeas from dry has changed our lives and saved so much money (and we cook with extra flavours like bay leaves and garlic which is game changing)

I love doing lentil soups with dry lentils and do a lot of things like hoppin’ joe and chillis and tagines all using dried beans and pulses thanks to the instapot...less recycling and less money too but it’s taken me a while to get confident with it
