I'll start!

B: bran sticks and oat milk, glass of OJ.
L: Hummus and tomato toastie.
D: Stir fry: pepper, courgette, onion, garlic, ginger, carrot and Quorn chicken-style pieces, noodles and lots of soy sauce. First time I've tried the chicken-style pieces; they were on offer. Nice and low cal/high protein, but nothing special in terms of taste.
Snacks: apple, banana, bombay mix.

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip Half the book is vegan and the other half veggie. I've only cooked 2 dishes so far, both of which have been very nice. DD17 has marked quite a few though, so will work our way through those and report Grin

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 29/05/2020 20:59

A lot easier to veganism veggie food than meat filled though - my mum suggested I could veganism a dish which had chorizo as the central ingredient which I was like....Er....not really

IJumped I've done it for 20 years and have no nasty health problems. it's more complex than it seems (our guts are not simple entities!). But it's well worth looking at with an open mind!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 30/05/2020 16:04

Lol @PartTimeDomesticGoddess me too! I know I’m negative just because I had to have the injections during pregnancy and I don’t think I’m O but actually no idea - I’ve asked my doctor!

The Rose harissa pesto sounds amazing, did you make it? Do you have a recipe?

Yesterday was a very snacky day with no real meals apart from dinner
Morning: two banana bran muffins, houmous and lettuce, cashew vanilla yoghurt I’d just taken delivery of from a favourite cheese place and was trying for the first time and it was AMAZING actually nicer than any non vegan yoghurt I’ve had, some salt and vinegar crisps.
Dinner was roasted veggies (finishing up what was wilting at the bottom of the fridge) with beyond sausages and a olivey marinara sauce.

But we nearly got caught up in George Floyd protests which freaked me out a bit so I ended up drinking way more than I was intending to - 2 g&t’s, 3 glasses of wine and a rum. My head hurts today

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 31/05/2020 20:51

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip how scary. I'm sure I would feel shaken up by that too, not that I need any excuse for a drink Grin
The rose harissa pesto is a bought one by belazu and it is very tasty.

B: half a mango, big bowl of shreddies with rice milk
L: stir fried yellow pepper, tenderstem, green beans, courgette and kale with chilli and garlic with puy lentils and lemon tahini dressing
D: big salad, sweet potato fries, burger in a bun with burger sauce, gherkins, jalapeños and nooch
S: ginger cake

ppeatfruit · 01/06/2020 08:54

The negative or positive bit of the blood only affects conception\or non apparently !

Whether our gut secretes our blood type does affect which food suits us; it's the lectins and they are not all removed by cooking. You can get testing kits in the large chemists.

I'm an A type and looking at the list of avoids for A types I was amazed at how relevant it was to my habits (eg I thought bananas and oranges were good for me, I knew they gave me heartburn, I also had eczema at the time) they re both "avoids" for me. As soon as I stopped them, I got better! Most other citruses are great for me!

Ref. riots; I try not to hear the news too much, I was [shocked] when dh told me the rioting has spread to London. Blimey.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 01/06/2020 17:55

Thanks @PartTimeDomesticGoddess but not as scary as being black in this country....

Congratulations on actually making a baguette IJumped Not the easiest of loaves (understatement!)

Have you looked at the sourdough starter thread? I soaked some cannellini beans last night and am deciding what to make with them apart from a dip of course.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 03/06/2020 12:12

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess I've just seen this thread - I love the Richmond meat free sausage pasta - we have it nearly every week in our house!!
I'm doing the 16:8 fasting diet at the moment, so so far today it's just been black coffee and water.
I'm trying to decide what to have at 1 when I break my fast - thinking maybe smashed avocado, hummus, salad and bread.
Yesterday was:
Overnight grape nuts with soy yoghurt and berries, left over Richmond meat free sausage pasta, then macaroni cheese using Tesco's free from cheese sauce and chucked some vivera bacon bits in, large salad on the side

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2020 17:20

What's in the meat free sausages Jamie?

JamieFrasersSassenach · 03/06/2020 17:48

@ppeatfruit these are the ones I have been buying, they are made from soya

www.veganlifemag.com/another-big-meat-brand-just-launched-vegan-sausages/

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 03/06/2020 19:27

@ppeatfruit we haven’t jumped on the sourdough bandwagon, mainly because I like it occasionally but am not the biggest fan. We have for a few years now bought in wheat to mill for flour for home made bread but only during lockdown have I ventured into something other than bog standard bread

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 03/06/2020 21:37

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip you mill your own flour?? Wow. How much kit do you need for that? Can you taste any difference? Is it worth it (lockdown supply issues aside)? So many questions Grin

B: overnight oats with seeds, mango and soya yogurt
L: Meera's tomato, chickpea and rose harissa salad with pittas again
D: curried mushrooms and spinach served on a naan bread with soy yogurt raita. Served with the obligatory beetroot
S: nakd bar, satsuma, grapes, cashews

ppeatfruit · 04/06/2020 09:31

Thanks Jamie.

ref. homemade bread, I have tried to make a starter for sourdough bread, unsucccessfully. ( I normally make a mix of spelt and rice flour bread) We eat spelt bread and have the choice of 2 bakers; (in Fr.) one who makes a proper baguette with it. Which is amazing because you really can't tell the difference between it and normal wheat flour. I think that they use a starter to get the lightness it does taste sweet though.

But the one we really like is a solid but quite light one made by bakers and growers in our next village. We order one a week (since lockdown) and collect it from the farm. So my baking is not required!
