The Forbidden Corner - Yorkshire

We have a family weekend away with adult DC in their 20s and their partners.

I know this is great for children but they advertise it as a fun day out for adults as well. Is it suitable for a bunch of nerdy 24 year olds?

It's so much fun 😂

Slides down huge hills, and silly fun in the woods. Great for nerdy adults.

starlingsintheslipstream · 21/05/2023 09:43

I went with younger kids but, honestly, brilliant for all ages. There's nowhere quite like it!

TheGriffle · 21/05/2023 09:58

I’m thinking of going, how long do you need to comfortably get round? Wondering if we’re better booking a morning slot to have all day or if it can be done and dusted in a few hours the 1pm slot would be fine.

jayhoo · 21/05/2023 10:08

Great fun! If you want an excellent full day out it's just up the road from middleham castle and there are a couple of good places to eat in middleham

starlingsintheslipstream · 21/05/2023 10:25

The first time we went we booked the first slot which was ace as there were fewer people there so there was a surprise at every stage, no queues at all. I'd recommend morning.

OnMyWayToSenility · 21/05/2023 10:28

Wow it sounds great! I'm going to book that for half term 😀

xyzandabc · 21/05/2023 10:29

My DH and 16yr old both say yes, a bunch of nerdy 24 yr olds would have fun.

Don't expect Disney but it's quirky, unexpected and not quite like anything else they will have ever seen.

LittleFreakJezebel · 21/05/2023 10:30

Yes!! I went as a kid and loved it, went back a couple of years ago as an adult (in 20's) and enjoyed it just as much Grin

THisbackwithavengeance · 21/05/2023 10:35

It's one of the nicest places I've ever been to. So quirky in beautiful Yorkshire.

In fact you have reminded me of it. I'm going to ask DH and my teenage kids if they want to go next week!

AnneElliott · 21/05/2023 10:38

We went with some friends and our kids but all us adults really enjoyed it.

Casilero · 21/05/2023 10:40

I didn't know there were slides? Is that a new thing?

Thanks for reminding me about it. Not been in years, and yes definitely suitable for adults.

AncientQuercus · 21/05/2023 10:43

We are going over half term. My adult kids love it.

Tallisker · 21/05/2023 11:14

My 50+ year old husband loved it and is clamouring to go back. It's so difficult to describe what it is, he was completely unprepared.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/05/2023 11:16

It is absolutely 100% suitable for nerdy 24 year olds.

Are the slides new? I don’t think I have been since before the pandemic but there definitely weren’t slides then.

Qilin · 21/05/2023 11:18

I've been with children and we've had a fabulous day out, even when dd was older when she chose to take her younger cousins there.

Infact she has such fab memories of it that she and some university friends have booked to go later this week - they are all 21y students and still excited to be going and taking a picnic with them 😂

Qilin · 21/05/2023 11:20

Definitely weren't slides last to,e we went though it was a few years ago now, so just be new.

It's really quirky and a lovely outdoor day visit.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/05/2023 11:43

Slides in the woods sounds more like Bewilderwood in Norfolk.

Forbidden Corner wasn’t actually designed for children. Though obviously they love it.

RedHinge · 21/05/2023 14:09

Sounds perfect. I will book it!
We will be staying near Leyburn and have done a lot of the attractiions round there before. Agree Middlham castle is great. We usually stay at Brompton Lakes which I highly recommend if anyone is interested but we are having a change this time.

Brompton Lakes

Brompton Lakes is a stunning collection of luxury lakeside lodges in Yorkshire. Enjoy the unique design of this eco-friendly holiday retreat!

This sounds brilliant

I went with a group of friends when I was that age and we loved it. Didn't find everything you're meant to. Still frustrates me now 🤣

A couple aren't inside FC itself which makes it tricky; you need to investigate the car park area as well.

MissLC · 21/05/2023 17:47

I think we were just rubbish at it to be honest 🤣 we were having too much fun to look for everything

You clearly need to go again. Preferably with someone who has never been so you can have the fun of watching them react.

MissLC · 21/05/2023 21:13

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel I plan to! My husband has never been. Our LO is 2 so waiting until she's old enough to enjoy it too
