We have a family weekend away with adult DC in their 20s and their partners.

I know this is great for children but they advertise it as a fun day out for adults as well. Is it suitable for a bunch of nerdy 24 year olds?

Its a great day out but take spare clothes incase you get wet and muddy

We went earlier this year and my lot loved it. They are very much the right age. We spent most of the day there, but I have since seen people mention things that we never saw! So we clearly missed things. We’re planning to go back to find them.

We're going in the summer but one of mine gets very easily scared and is very hard to talk down once they have. I'm already prepping him by watching YouTube videos and obviously we'll avoid the mausoleum, but I think he might struggle with the labyrinth too. Is it possible to avoid it and still get everywhere else? I wish there was some sort of map online, but I know they want to avoid spoilers! Thanks in advance for any help.

@fourormorecharacters honestly I wouldn't go. Most of it involves the unexpected and it's designed to make you jump / scared.

Ah, thanks for letting me know. He's surprisingly keen on the rest of it unfortunately (he loves mazes and things like that), but maybe I'll try and steer him towards somewhere else.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 04/08/2023 09:43

I disagree! It’s mainly not about jump scares, it’s about squirting water at you unexpectedly.
If you are avoiding the mausoleum the only scary thing is the cat in the underground tunnels and you might find that hard to avoid. However my kids all went from a young age and nobody ever got upset.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 04/08/2023 09:45

You could easily avoid the underground tunnels but once you’re in it them might not be so easy to avoid the cat - in theory you could if you knew which way you were going but the whole point is to confuse you!

Langsdestiny · 04/08/2023 11:15

Yes I wouldnt do the cat. One of mine was scared of that although did grow out of it. I think if you found yourself in the cat bit you could turn around. The scare is at the end.

fourormorecharacters · 04/08/2023 13:23

Thank you so much @TheCountessofFitzdotterel and @Langsdestiny! I think he'll really enjoy the random water squirting and the rest of it, so if we can avoid the scary stuff (or turn around and come back in the mouse/cat bit) I think we'll go for it. You've all been a big help!

In August it's very, very busy (and there will be a few areas where there will be a wasp party) - book early slots, not in the afternoon.

I'd read the reviews on Tripadvisor - those where they're a little critical as well as the many that are gushing, if you think you may be with someone who might not love every part. If it's not at full capacity it may be a little more whimsical and charming, but I don't feel at ease when it is.

We went years ago when my DS was under 5yo . He wasn't scared by any of it (he's 23 now ) some things might have changed .

They did each group in staggered times so you didn't come into contact with others .
It was a really good , if weird day .
Closet description I'd say is being in a Real Life Alice Through The Looking Glass .
