Hotel expecting me to share a bed with one of my sons

MollyBunny154 · 08/02/2023 00:53

I have had to travel nearly 3 hours away from home to a specialist Childrens hospital as my youngest son is 11 and is being admitted very early in morning for day for tests.
My oldest son is 19 and has come with us as I don't like traveling on my own.

I booked to stay at premier Inn for 2 nights , paid for a family room, was assured it would have a double bed sofa bed and pull out bed so 3 beds.

Turned up and checked in tonight went to room and found they had given me a twin room with just 2 beds.

Went back to reception as thought they had perhaps given me wrong key. They said that was correct key and room and there was nothing they could do as hotel is fully booked. I was told I would have to share a bed with one of my son's

It was too late to find another hotel so reluctantly went back to room.

There is no way any one could share a bed with my youngest son, he moves around in his bed constantly all night.

I don't think it would be appropriate to share a bed with my oldest son.

I've had to give my sons the beds and I'm having to sleep on floor, using a coat as a blanket as don't even have any spare bedding.

Am I wrong think it's not right to have to share a bed with one of my son's.

What would you have done in this situation.
Am I right to be annoyed.

Any advice much appreciated
Thanks in advance

PI twin rooms are never two single beds. I’ve never come across one in many years of Premier Inn stays across the UK
From their website:

Our twin rooms are designed to be as flexible as possible – so they come in different formats.
Most feature a super-comfy double or kingsize bed plus a single sofa bed.
The rest have two double or kingsize beds.
To find out more, speak to your hotel.

WRONG
i have booked a premier in for this weekend. It’s a twin room with two single beds. The paperwork says two single beds and the photo shows two single beds.

AllOfThemWitches · 08/02/2023 10:36

OK, but in a single bed? The bedroom was a twin room, that means two singles. Even if they wanted to share there wouldn't have been the space.

Yes, in a single. He's only primary school age though and neither of us are particularly big and tall though he does wriggle around. Regardless, OP should be refunded, the hotel screwed up.

CraneBoysMysteries · 08/02/2023 10:36

@watcherintherye @Cheeseandcrackers86 @Rainbowsparkles29
I stayed in PI int be south west three weeks ago with a friend. Two single beds as a twin room.

But obviously they don't exist as everyone else has read (wrongly) a website.

Good luck today OP with your hospital appointment.

SheilaFentiman · 08/02/2023 10:41

for those saying OP should have held her ground and kicked up a fuss - she had just had a nearly 3h journey with her children , possibly arriving pretty late, was probably exhausted and may well have made arrangements for eg a taxi from the premier inn to the hospital the next day.

Finding a 3 bed room elsewhere could well have taken ages and been unsuccessful. I’m not surprised she prioritised her younger son getting sleep before the appointment.

hope all goes well today OP

"Family rooms
Our spacious family rooms accommodate up to two adults plus two kids aged under 16. Most of our family rooms feature a super-comfy double or kingsize* bed, plus a single sofa bed and a pull-out bed."

Did you definitely book it as a family room? Just wondering as one of your sons is over the stated age range.

Agreed. Family rooms are for two adults and one child.

Your older son is an adult.

So you may have misunderstood when booking

I would have got in with my son

Maybe read it again and read it properly this time. You might find it informative.

Please just learn to read!

The OP's party did consist of 2 adults and 1 child.

The room that she was allocated was not suitable for 3 people.

How difficult is that to understand?

🤦🏻‍♀️

the room she got was for TWO people despite her booking for THREE.

what the actual fuck?
Can you read?

Dozens and dozens of posts on here explaining the situation

  1. she booked for 2 adults and 1 child.
  2. she had comfirmation of her booking
  3. she phone dot doubel check and was told yes 2 adults and one child
  4. she turned up and instead of a family room she was given a room with 2 single beds.

Please, do the OP the curtesy of reading the thread before posting.

This was 100% the fault of the hotel. And for what it is worth, no, I could not share a single even with a toddler (I've tried)

FFS! 😂

I hope this thread gives OP a laugh after a tough day at least.

What's with all the rudeness on this thread 😧
Hope your son is ok OP and you manage to get a refund for last night and change rooms.
To anyone who's saying raise hell at reception, that won't get you anywhere. Just need to calmly state you'd like a refund and if they refuse ask to speak to management. Express your dissatisfaction politely. As someone who's worked in customer service for years, kicking off gets you nowhere trust me. They are less likely to help you. Also it's not the receptionists fault. This is more to other people suggesting she kicks off, not OP.
Hope it gets sorted x

Agree that kicking off will not get the OP anywhere. The error is not the receptionist's fault. However, the receptionist has shown exceptionally poor service by failing to proactively alert their manager to the fact that the customer is not getting the room that she booked or paid for. Telling her to share a single bed with her son is not an acceptable solution. The receptionist should be doing more to try to resolve the issue.

In that situation, I would not get arsey, but I would be very clear and persistent in stating that I expected the hotel to resolve the issue and honour the booking that they had made. Usually, when overbookings are involved, this means arranging suitable accommodation in another nearby hotel.

The receptionist should not just shrug it off as the OP's problem. That's dreadful service.

CassieMc · 08/02/2023 11:52

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves I agree about alerting the manager. That's something I would of done so I can't argue there.

You really couldn't be bothered to read Op's fuckin' thread could you? Either that or you are saying you think she's lying then you are troll hunting.

Ultraninja · 08/02/2023 12:31

"Family rooms are for two adults and one child."
2 adults - Op and son 1 child - Op's younger son. Count it on fingers. 😂
For those who are accusing Op of lying - I have booked a PI family room with twin beds in the past, they really do exist. But I'm sure there are people who will say I'm lying too.

1FootInTheRave · 08/02/2023 12:39

Fuck me, some hard of thinking on this thread.

Completely inappropriate to give you a room for TWO, when you clearly booked a room for THREE!

Hope you get an apology and a refund.

I expect some people will say that the Premier Inn website is also lying if it means that they get to 'out' the OP as a troll!

If you think the OP is trolling, @Rainbowsparkles29, why not just come out and say so? Better still, follow the talk guidelines and report your suspicions to MNHQ?

What's the point of all the snidey comments trying to cast doubt on what the OP has said?

On top of that, just how sheltered are some people’s lives that they can’t believe a hotel could possibly have a room with two single beds?! Imagine thinking that is just too unbelievable!! 😂
