Looking for a week / few days in September, me dh and dog. Just want somewhere with beautiful stunning scenery, quaint shops. Just pretty.
We might camp or air bnb.
we will just want to have a good walk everyday or a mooch with a coffee.
Just a good bit of nature and amazing scenery for a week. Trees and views. anywhere… will look at anything! Any suggestions please?

I liked the Pembrokeshire coast. It has stunning scenery and amazing beaches but quieter than eg Cornwall. You can also do boat trips if you fancy something different.

If it's September then I'd probably choose Skye. The most stunning place out of the main tourist season. To be fair though, I would also happily visit Northumberland, North Yorkshire, Dorset, Devon, Norfolk (and probably many other places I'm less familiar with too, I love a British holiday!)

I was just admiring this beautiful photo (not mine) of Flamborough Head in East Yorkshire..

The Antrim coast in Northern Ireland is breathtaking.

The Lake District.

Cairngorms is my favourite place. We've stayed in Boat of Garten on the edge a few times and its perfect for chilling, not sure if the place I stayed accepts dogs but otherwise I would highly recommend, mobile home but immaculate

I love the area around Hay-on-Wye. Lots of lovely walks along the Wye or up in the Black Mountains plus Hay itself has some nice quirky shops, lots of bookshops, vintage stuff, cafes etc. We’ve found it to be very dog friendly too.

Snowdonia

Another vote for Hay on Wye. Walk up onto Hay Bluffs and the black mountains, there'll be hardly anyone up there unlike the Lakes and it's more beautiful in my opinion. Very dog friendly, lovely places to eat, lots of lovely places to stay. If you go right up over the mountains you can drive to Llanthony Priory and walk there, it's stunning. Not far from the Brecon Beacons park which is also just mile upon mile of stunning and hardly anyone else in sight.

Northumberland

I would recommend Usher Gap campsite in the Dales. It really is wonderful - middle of nowhere, lovely site with great facilities, little beck running through one of the fields, gorgeous views.

Isle of Mull.
Most beautiful place ever.

Northumberland

This - miles of beautiful coastline, stunning countryside, more castles than you can shake a stick at but unlike several of the well known tourist hot spots you won't be one of a million and one tourists.

weekendninja · 12/07/2022 15:09

Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

We stay just outside St Davids in a village called Solva. It has the most spectacular scenery, the hiking is like nothing else.

Although, Beddgelert North Wales is just as amazing. If you visit be sure to do the Fisherman's Path and Dinorwig Quarry.

North wales, snowdonia, Harlech - breathtaking scenery and much less busy than the lakes district, Cornwall etc

HappyHappyHermit · 12/07/2022 15:10

Forest of Dean

AdamRyan · 12/07/2022 15:13

Pembrokeshire- stay in Pembroke, walk on the coast path round there. Beautiful 😍

Dazedandconfused28 · 12/07/2022 15:20

Scilly without a doubt - and each island has its own feel - absolutely breath taking, and it has limited capacity - so never feels busy. Easy to find a deserted beach even in the height of summer. Hard to believe it's in the UK when the weather is good

dolphinsarentcommon · 12/07/2022 15:25

Shropshire. Beautiful county and plenty to do. Long Mynd. Ludlow, Much Wenlock etc etc

Temporaryanonymity · 12/07/2022 15:28

Elan Valley. Just beautiful (and empty!)

MorrisZapp · 12/07/2022 15:31

Isle of Arran in the west of Scotland. Truly beautiful, friendly and full of incredible walks.

I'm not worried about ruining the secret - you can only get there by ferry so while always popular, it's never over crowded.
