Looking for a week / few days in September, me dh and dog. Just want somewhere with beautiful stunning scenery, quaint shops. Just pretty.
We might camp or air bnb.
we will just want to have a good walk everyday or a mooch with a coffee.
Just a good bit of nature and amazing scenery for a week. Trees and views. anywhere… will look at anything! Any suggestions please?

Aviemore, skye, or Lake District, we've just come back from Windermere which was fabulous.

Yodaisawally · 12/07/2022 18:40

We really liked the Peak District, stayed in between Matlock and Matlock Bath

How about Salcombe - lovely town, great pubs and coffee places (cream teas!), good walks on the south west coast path, many you can take a small ferry to which is nice. Estuary views are to die for

Dumfries and Galloway. Stunning walks and lots of lovely places to eat.

Outer Hebrides- esp the beaches of Harris, are amazingly beautiful. Short on quaint little shops . Great places for coffee but often in the middle of nowhere.
West coast of Scotland has some stunning scenery. Never been that bothered by the midgies.
East Coast and Dumfries and Galloway are really lovely in places but don’t have the same dramatic impact in terms of scenery.

Thecrystalempire · 13/07/2022 13:13

St Ives. It busy for a reason.

nearlytheregirl · 13/07/2022 13:15

Outer Hebrides
Pembrokeshire
Northumberland

Frazzled2207 · 13/07/2022 13:18

Yeah Pembrokeshire or Skye would get my vote. I have had fantastic weather in September in Pembrokeshire- skye is def more hit and miss.

I personally love Devon and Cornwall, esp south Devon coast, but they can be so busy. That said away from school hols you might be ok.

skiptothemoon · 13/07/2022 13:23

Aberdovey, pretty town, great beaches and fabulous walking in Snowdonia.
A second vote for Hay on Wye
Or West Dorset

AsanteSana · 13/07/2022 13:30

Lynton, Lynmouth, the Valley of Rocks, Porlock, the Doone Valley on Exmoor - all North Devon/Somerset borders and the A39 coast road between Porlock and Lynmouth is absolutely stunning with views to die for, across the Bristol Channel to Wales. In fact, I shall be there tonight, with a bottle of red and some bread and cheese, just sitting, watching the full Supermoon rise and reflect off the Bristol Channel waters - the song 'Moonriver' is actually running through my head as I type this!😁

TeaandHobnobs · 13/07/2022 13:32

This

People don't seem to realise exmoor is here! I think partly because it's isolated from motorways a bit. It's the UKseast visited national park

You could explore Hadrian's Wall, lots to see and do, beautiful scenery, several nice market towns within easy reach, some interesting ancestral piles for afternoon teas, perhaps fit in a day at the coast, at Craster & Bamburgh Castle.

londonmummy1966 · 13/07/2022 14:01

Northumberland - stay in Bamburgh and you have the coastal path on your doorstep and it is well place to go north to Lindisfarne or south to Alnwick and a boat to the Farne Islands from Seahouses.

HippyChickMama · 13/07/2022 14:10

Snowdonia, Beddgelert in particular is lovely, lots of places to eat, very dog friendly and some amazing walks surrounded by mountains

TooHotToTangoToo · 13/07/2022 14:55

Dunkeld in Scotland. Lovely village, shops, pubs and tearoom with the highlands on your doorstep for walking

I was also going to recommend Highland Perthshire, my sister recently came back from Dunkeld and hated the fact dogs were in pubs so it's definitely dog friendly.

Dunkeld is not far from Aberfeldy/ Kenmore and the beautiful Loch Tay and there is loads to do there.

I would avoid the Lake District, it is beautiful but so busy you can't relax.

The Northumberland coast is also beautiful and you can go on a day trip to Holy Island.

Another vote for Hay on Wye. Walk up onto Hay Bluffs and the black mountains, there'll be hardly anyone up there unlike the Lakes and it's more beautiful in my opinion. Very dog friendly, lovely places to eat, lots of lovely places to stay. If you go right up over the mountains you can drive to Llanthony Priory and walk there, it's stunning. Not far from the Brecon Beacons park which is also just mile upon mile of stunning and hardly anyone else in sight.

Your description has made me want to go there.

North Norfolk Coast - lovely huge beaches - quaint villages, great restaurants.
