I’ll start. DH’s Sister & BIL asking DH to pick them up from the airport this evening.

No big deal you might think, except they live exactly 3km from the airport, their house is about 100m from a stop for the airport bus that goes every 15 minutes, they don’t have luggage to carry and are a family of 4 healthy adults with no mobility problems. A taxi door to door would likely be the same if not less than 4 x the bus fare.

Meanwhile we live almost an hour’s round trip along winding country lanes from the airport, in the opposite direction, and have to empty the car of isofix car seat / pram etc to get them all in.

I don’t know whether I’m more aghast that they’ve thought it reasonable to ask, or that he’s thought it reasonable to agree. Should I LTB?

Nothing I can remotely think of tbh

Can’t really recall any example in recent times

CFs seem to plague so many Mumsnetters

Lemonbiccie · 29/09/2026 19:29

And your DH said….

Surroundedbyfools · 29/09/2026 19:29

That sound exaaaaaactly the kinda thing my bil would ask my DH to do !!

Nomoreexcessgum · 30/09/2026 06:17

Don’t leave us hanging @FettleOfKish … what was your husband’s response?!

girlsyearapart · 30/09/2026 06:26

At a family party at my house one of the wider family asked if they could have one iof my glasses. I thought they meant to drink out of at the party but they meant to take home and keep.
when I said she looked very put out

girlsyearapart · 30/09/2026 06:27

It says in the OP the DH agreed btw

So that is why the OP is pissed off I reckon.

It’s in the last line of the OP!

And I wasn’t pissed off, had no effect on me at all, just flabbergasted that someone that lives a stones throw from the airport would seriously ask someone to do an hours round trip to pick them up! The sheer audacity of it Grin

Edited

So really you’re very pissed off with your husband when it comes down to it.

Nomoreexcessgum · 30/09/2026 06:52

Are you sure they asked and he didn’t offer?

Yes. It’s almost as though Mn is populated by a legion of total wet lettuces.

Nomoreexcessgum · 30/09/2026 06:56

FettleOfKish · 30/09/2026 06:53

100% sure

And leaving you on a weekend with the kids so he can go off on a solo trip to do this?

somanychristmaslights · 30/09/2026 06:56

Yes that’s some massive CFery!! I would be embarrassed to ask! I really don’t get what goes through people’s head sometimes. Oh well, you get an hours peace with DH out the house!

MisiSam · 30/09/2026 07:01

Laying in bed with my 5 year old daughter.
Daughter gathers her teddies and gives them to me.
"Mummy on our way downstairs can you pop these on my bed thankyou"
Me. "Why cant you do it yourself?"
Her "i just feel like you would like to do me a favour"

Cheeky madam

Going to the charity shop my neighbour spots me putting my one bag in the car. Neughbour said can I take an item of theirs they’ve been meaning to go. That’s fine I say. Turns out the item was an overfilled black bin liner. Took me two trips from
the car to the shop instead of one.

Nomoreexcessgum · 30/09/2026 07:24

FettleOfKish · 30/09/2026 07:07

???

Is he?

Can you not see that it’s your DH who’s being the CF. His wife doesn’t want him to do this but he’s basically prioritised his sister over you

Practically anything anyone asks a Mumsnetter to do for them.

Where did I not want him to? I had no strong feelings as to whether he did or didn’t, as I’ve said it had no effect on me at all.

Anyway it was yesterday (as per OP) and I’m not sure why you’re so invested in this. Did you miss the ‘lighthearted’ in the title? Seems a couple of others did…

Good Lord, you seem a lot more bothered than the OP! Put that bone down

MotherofPufflings · 30/09/2026 08:31

Your SIL is indeed a CF.

These days, I think "lighthearted" is like a signal for the grumpy twats spoiling for a fight to crawl out of the woodwork.

socialdilemmawhattodo · 30/09/2026 08:39

Yesterday. Facebook marketplace. Selling an unopened box of cat food very reasonably. Stated collection only. After I sent my postcode the CF sent me back her postcode, then stated she didn't drive. She expected me to do a round trip of 26 miles. I was polite and said I was quite happy for a friend, colleague or family to collect, but I didn't deliver, ever. I think the final word must have scared her off.
