Yes, I know it's from the Daily Mail.
Yes, I know it's about small boats crossing the channel.
However, that baby is just a few months old. No life jacket of any kind.
Did they make it across safely?.

They should all be sent straight back, except children who didn't choose to enter illegally.

Octavia64 · 10/08/2026 15:49

Apparently they don’t intercept in the water due to risk if loss of life (most migrants can’t swim and the life jackets aren’t enough to save them) and they don’t intervene on the beaches if they anticipate a violent response. I presume that at least some of the people organising the boats carry knives or guns.

Cardemomle · 10/08/2026 15:49

I just looked at that picture and was horrified. There was also a toddler who was already soaking wet before they left Calais.
Why don't the French police intervene, at least to help little children?

Right, thank you. That makes sense.
Unfortunately I suppose they could turn violent. It's a shame when little children are involved though.

And do what? Separate those children from their parents and strand them as unaccompanied minors in another country?

StarbabyShine · 10/08/2026 15:55

Look at how it's being carried too! No care at all.
The French should hang their heads in shame for allowing that.

And that babys mother too! There is no way the 'fleeing' FRANCE is worth the risk to that tiny babies life.

Our Government have created this problem by making the UK the gold standard for migrants. They are already safe in European countries yet time and time again, day after day they make this journey, why?

People know why.

That baby was safe in France. There is no war in France. There is absolutely zero justification in risking that babies life to get to UK shores.

And after what keeps happening to women on those boats (3 heart attacks, really) why would France allow that baby to make that journey with these men?

If you have ANY DOUBT about what these men are capable of please watch this

https://x.com/LuvOtterSpace/status/2084206073045721305?s=20

These men are openly admitting that 'witches' are tied up on the boats and thrown overboard.

He says if he sees a witch he will kill it.

All 3 agree.

All 3 men agree that it is OK to kill witches.

How can people be OK with these men living next door??

LuvOtterSpace (@LuvOtterSpace) on X

Migrant from Senegal casually explains that if someone on the boat is accused of being a “witch,” they tie them up, starve them, or throw them in the sea. And people still act shocked when these values clash with the West.

True, however surely it's better than that little one being put on a dinghy like that?

So the people you choose to criticise are the French police? Not the baby’s family? Or the other people on the boat? Interesting, and not surprising. I know who I blame for putting that baby in such danger and it’s not the French police.

Better for whom, though? I mean, either every life on that boat is equally valuable, or none, surely. And yes, the adults chose this, and chose it for children too young to get a say, but what do we do with that — just kidnap anyone embarking on a boat who isn’t an adult, and do what with them? Say a French border cop took that baby. There’s then an unidentified, unspeaking baby alone in the care system in France. Or are you suggesting a gendarme dangles the baby as bait to get its parents to disembark as well?

I do blame all the people involved. However, I am disappointed that police would stand by and watch this behaviour.

It's vile.

Agree...

I also thought France was what's termed
a safe country, so why would any decent parent put their child's life in danger once they'd made it to there.

Because they think they will get 'more' here than France.
Whether that is true or not...these people believe it enough to do this.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 10/08/2026 16:19

They like a woman and child on board as they think they will get rescued faster. You notice it is nearly always men bit only one or two women.

Victorius19 · 10/08/2026 16:22

I fully blame the UK Government for welcoming these people with open arms, and benefits. An easy life for no effort at all. Who can blame them for wanting to come here and take advantage of it. You can't blame the French either, their coastal towns are being destroyed by migrant camps. No population wants them apart from our Government it would appear.

Parents know what they are doing, they have paid a people smuggler thousands to do it and it's 100% parents fault. I doubt too that any parents wouldn't want to be separated from their child in a different country either, despite putting themselves and the baby at risk.

Shows you the desperation doesn't it?

Very much doubt that the sort of parents who embark on that sort of enterprise would care about the fate of the baby -other than that it is onviously a useful tool for increased ‘benefits’ from the mug British taxpayer.

“Either every life on that boat is equally valuable or none, surely”.

Most people would choose to save a child over an adult if they couldn’t save both. Presumably you’d toss a coin.

Digerydont · 10/08/2026 16:33

The "small" boats now carry 250 people.

You’re doing the same again. You are disappointed in the police. Are you disappointed in the family or other people on the boat? Why do people do this, talk about “asylum seekers” as if they have no agency whatsoever and we can’t expect any morality or reasonableness from them (but despite this should welcome thousands upon thousands into the country).

It was the same with the death of Alan Kurdi. His parents took him in an unseaworthy boat from Turkey, yes Turkey, about as dangerous as France 🙄 and he died. Everyone’s fault except his parents of course.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 10/08/2026 16:36

How long would they need military on the beaches, to stop this dead? Surely it’s worth it? Allowing people to do this is crazy.

'The desperation' for what?

What are they desperate for that they don't have in France? What is happening in France that is so horrifying it's worth risking your babies life for? Or what is so much better about England that it is worth risking your baby drowning?

Can you please enlighten me? As far as I know there are no wars, genocides, famines in France? They are surely provided with the basics they need as asylum seekers?
They have reached Europe. They are safe??

Why get on a boat AFTER you have made it to the safety of Europe just to get to England?

‘Benefits’ innit.
