Jade or Jane or are they both boring?

Jadeorjane · Yesterday 20:12

I really like the sound of both these names but have been told they’re boring and plain (plain Jane)
I am aware they were both more common in previous era and that doesn’t bother me.

But is Jade any more boring than another Ava, Isla, Ada etc

Who is it for?

Yourself, a baby/your daughter, a pet rabbit, a literary character?

Tooobvious · Yesterday 20:15

I like Jane. Not very common nowadays.

Sorry but as a teacher I’ve rarely had a Jade/Jayde/Jayda in my class who wasn’t a pain in one way or another, so personally I wouldn’t choose that.

I like the name Jane. Joan is another good one in a similar vein.

Not at all keen on Jade.

Canoodler · Yesterday 20:17

I think Jane is cool.

menopausequeen · Yesterday 20:19

Neither

Kingdomofsleep · Yesterday 20:21

I really like Jane

Jane 10/10. Jade 3/10.
Jane is cool.

Jane is great.

Jane is a bit boring and Jade is a bit chavy

Sesquioxides · Yesterday 20:26

I love Jane. It’s such a classic.

I like Jane, don't like Jade.

Children the same age as your child won't think Jane is boring/plain because it'll sound unusual to them.

EveryKneeShallBow · Yesterday 20:30

I worked with a Jane whose sisters were Susan and Ann and whose brother was Lorcan (!). The girls were all delightful Lorcan was a self satisfied little sod. Hope this is helpful in some way.

AbsoluteHoot · Yesterday 20:31

Jane is a bit boring, but infinitely better than Jade which is chavvy.

yellowpinksky · Yesterday 20:32

Jane is boring and Jade, well, all jades I know have been trouble in one way or another, so that taints the name for me.

Clarabellawilliamson · Yesterday 20:41

I like Jane, it’s my mums name and my DD middle name. We nearly went with Joan because that was my Nan’s name. There’s a Janey at her school, not sure if she is actually a Jane or just a Janey, but I like it.

CurlewKate · Yesterday 20:43

Entirely different mood IMHO. One is on the posh side, the other not.

OneLimePombear · Yesterday 20:44

Jane is lovely.

wendywoopywoo222 · Yesterday 20:44

Jane is a fabulous name. ❤️

Isn’t it strange, I’ve never known a Jade that wasn’t a wrong ‘un either. Jane is perfectly lovely OP.

ExquisiteSocialSkills · Yesterday 20:45

Jane.

ArcticBells · Yesterday 20:45

Jane will come back I think.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · Yesterday 20:45

Jade Jagger seemed ok. It just got overused and in the same company as Jaxon. Jane has been used for centuries so not sure if that makes it boring. Often used with other names.

DramaAlpaca · Yesterday 20:47

Jane is a beautiful, timeless classic. It's simple and pretty, not plain at all.

Jade is dated in a very 90s sort of way. I realise it's a gemstone name, which should be a nice connotation, but IIRC it was 16th century slang for a prostitute, which is awful.

viques · Yesterday 20:48

Jane or Joan. Or even Jehane if you want an historical vibe.

Not jade though.
