Hey alll, I'm new here.

For the last two mo this I have been doing to 90 days plan by Joe Wicks. Now here's where it get confusing so bare with me.

I joined the plan because I wanted to lose 2.5st and get at 9st. And I've actually gained weight since starting the plan and I'm not liking at one bit, apart from that food and workouts.

But...here's my problem, I really want to go back to slimming world. I originally joined in '13 at 10 st 2. And then got to target, went on holiday 3 years later and put 4lb back in and it went up from there. So I tried WE and that didn't work. So here I am almost 7 years later STILL trying to get to 9st.

In those 7 years I've only recently become pre diabetic, relating to my weight. Which is the main reason why I wanted to do the 90 day plan because I thought it might be different. And I'm utterly disappointed and I'm only finishing it off because it's a waste of money otherwise.

I've even re downloaded the Slimming world app and I'm ready to start my journey when the Joe Wicks plan is over.

I just need to helpful and kind advice. Nothing mean or horrible please as I'm already depressed enough as it is.

Should I stick it out and see what my end result is or go to slimming world (which I know works for me weight loss wise)

Hello and welcome @MsSiriusLupin70
I think you posted in the wrong section and might have been misled by the title. Here we chat about weight lifting and bodybuilding.

You should post here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat or since you are thinking about slimming world, there is a whole section on MN about it here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/slimming_world

Have you ever considered intermittent fasting . Watch. the TED talk and download the free book here shop.bertherring.com/collections/free-digital-downloads/products/the-fast-5-diet-and-the-fast-5-lifestyle-ebook (select can't pay to have not for free) . Most calorie based slimming program will fail in the long run. Maybe intermittent fasting can help . There is a section on MN about that www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet and a lovely community to help you whatever type of fasting you do.

Look on YouTube for Jason Fung ( too many links to put them all) as he specialises in pre-diabetics.

Best of luck, and maybe I will see you in the fasting board. //flowers

Hi
I loosely do the Joe Wicks plan. Find the work outs great but meal plans a faff. The reason it might not be working is that he works to quite a low calorie deficit. I put some of the meals into my fitness planner and adjusted quantities etc to get a bigger deficit. The amount in the peanut butter jam smoothie for example is ridiculous! I see what he is trying to do , educate people about cooking real food from scratch, but like many diet plans there's not really any room for that night out or that donut you fancied. Whereas if you track calories you can adjust your day/week to allow for it

Great awareness to understand being able to budget calories around the week and move things around. My question back to you would be does slimming world work for you if you've put the weight back on and need to lose it again? I'm not saying it didn't but maybe it was because it wasn't a sustainable approach for you to lose it in the first place. Worth considering. Every time you regain weight it gets harder to lose again, via several mechanisms, so it's important to do it once and therefore do it right.
