Do we all have a doppelgänger….

WTAF. A friend sent me a link today which showed an advertisement with a picture of my son. Only thing is….it’s not my son! I have looked at the photo for ages and can’t understand it. Like my son, the person in the photo has no earlobes and also a slight abnormality on the rim of his ear.

I keep going back to look at the photo, trying to find something different in the photo, to distinguish the person from my son, but I can’t! The person even has the same haircut as my son, which makes it even weirder! Has anyone else ever come across something like this?

I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw a woman sitting at a table at a restaurant who was identical to my friend. I told the woman that her doppelgänger was 2,000 miles away and showed her a photograph of my friend. She and her husband couldn't believe how much they looked alike. I FaceTimed my friend and she was surprised by the resemblance too.

My husband says his doppelgänger is Brad Pitt.

Even so, being so extraordinarily similar, are you sure there's no way a stock photo of your son has been used OP?

Fascinating subject!

Came face to face with mine when getting the bus from platt fields to umist in about 1975/6. We were both shocked and said nothing, friend was fascinanted.

I think everyone has loads of people who look exactly like them.
There are what? 7 billion people on the planet? There's only so many combinations of features.

I have a distant dna link in the US who looks exactly like me. Poor woman.

Absolutely no way. I keep looking at the photo, to see if there are any differences, but I can’t see any! Wish I could see this person in real life, to see if he is the same height, shoe size etc. Okay

Interesting. In the link to Francois Brunelle's project, the doppelgangers all seem to live in the same city as their double (Bogota, Paris, Lisbon etc). I wonder if they could be half-siblings/cousins etc, not officially related but perhaps conceived during affairs etc and therefore their true paternity and family lineage has been obscured. Does anybody know if Francois does any DNA testing of the doppelgangers?

Sorry posted too soon. Okay, as @IncompleteSenten says there are billions of people on the planet, but until now I always thought that no one has an identical twin (except for identical twins).

I have one but haven't met them, but several times people I don't know have stopped to talk to me , thinking I am someone else. When its clear I don't know them they have asked me if I am so and so's sister as I am her double. Im not, unless I have a secret sibling that I'm not aware of.

I don’t want to be too outing but the photo was in an advertisement for a company which is only about 80 miles away from us. The only way I know it isn’t my son is because of the clothes his double is wearing!

There was a girl at college who looked just like me apparently. I never saw her so cannot vouch for it.

There are 2 women locally I'm regularly mistaken for & I presume they are for me, but in reality we just have very similar hair/hairstyles.

When I was a student though, a flat ate showed me a photo of her sister and she really did look a lot like me. It was weird!

Yes, not that I've seen her but people are convinced I am her, she is local, has a sister and works in healthcare!! (I have not got a sister and do not work in healthcare) People get quite "off" with me when I try to convince them they have the wrong person.

A women once stopped me in the street and was talking to me about something and I was like I don't mean to rude but do we know each other and she was like what?! Turns out she thought I was her daughter 😂 so yes possibly!!!

My Mom apparently had a doppelgänger when she was a girl, she used to get stopped and asked why she’d been at XYZ etc when it wasn’t her, she said she saw her on the same bus once but wouldn’t look her in the face as she believed the old tale of one of you will die!

I apparently have one locally. Loads of sightings by friends (including by my then boyfriend) of this person. Never seen them myself. Apparently also has similar mannerisms to me.

Very strange. I look quite unusual too. So I've not got one of those faces where everyone thinks they've met me before.

Yes. Mine was on a TV show once. Several of my friends messaged me asking if I was on TV! Even her mannerisms and laugh was the same as mine. It was creepy.

I have one who loves in the same town as me. My daughter seen her in the local park. She has the same hairstyle, same style of clothing as me and even pushing the same pram as mine!
