... does it really have to be called My little pony? I am sorry if that sounds ungrateful but I am worried we might upset people who really want to discuss what to do about Glittery Prancer's lost sequinned comb.

I think 'Mumsnet pony club' would attract the right sort.

actually I would quite like to join in a little horsey chat from time to time. Just occasionally, because dd1 is a huge fan. But I'm not getting a friendly feel here.

snoringnightmare · 09/01/2009 22:31

Pulls Swedes to one side. Stop it. Remember the Pony Club Rules.

Pointydog, welcome my friend.

A chorus of Cymbwy ya my lord (sp?) Who's got the tamberines? (sp again I've had a wine)

mysterymoniker · 09/01/2009 22:32

I'm friendly though, especially as you remind me of one of my favourite breeds of dog

are you wire or short haired by the way?

SwedesInACape · 09/01/2009 22:32

Pointy - It is tremendously good humoured and lovely. I do hope you will post. My DD has just had her first riding lesson and totally adored the whole thing.

pointydog · 09/01/2009 22:35

oo. Why thank you. And I like that horsey smile, snoring.

dd1 has been horse mad for years now and is about to start riding again this weekend after fracturing her wrist. I often feel a little confused and useless because I do not have that horsey nature. But I enjoy trying to join in.

ruby, you expect HORSES to climb up to your attic?

SwedesInACape · 09/01/2009 22:40

My Little Ponies in the attic - next to the abandoned trainset and the Playmobil men with their Oasis haircuts.

As a survivor of the skirmish now commemorated as the Battle of the Only Child Topic, I come to express solidarity and offer you a muffin in the tea room.

And could you expert horsewomen advise on when is a good time to start riding lessons? DD is desperate to try it.

snoringnightmare · 09/01/2009 22:43

Wonders where Pointy and DD live just in case they fancy a spot of mucking out when I want to (go on holiday) spend my time doing worthy causes. hic.

combustiblelemon · 09/01/2009 22:44

Why shouldn't they have a topic? And after a few threads with sensible OPs, I'm sure people who aren't interested will just hide the topic or ignore it.

snoringnightmare · 09/01/2009 22:46

SWEDES - report to the DC NOW. And sort out that mess in your jacket pockets.

pointydog · 09/01/2009 22:47

scotland, snoring. How close is that?

snoringnightmare · 09/01/2009 22:48

Bocca, most stables won't take on under 5yo. Waste of your money and their time (and insurance costs). If you have a friendly horsey person who can let DD just sit on and be led around that is just as good at that age imo.

BoccaDellaVerita · 09/01/2009 22:49

Thanks!

snoringnightmare · 09/01/2009 22:51

Oh Pointy a little far I think. I love Scotland - well the holidays I've had there were great. West Coast - loved it. Edinburgh okish for a City.

IorekByrnison · 09/01/2009 22:54

Finally! Somewhere I can talk about my loose ring bits and eggbutt snaffles.

I like only foals and horses.

SwedesInACape · 09/01/2009 22:56

Bocca - My DD turned 3 in November and she had her first proper lesson just over a week ago and loved it. V good local riding school (with indoor facilities for winter) were very happy to take her. She was brilliant.

I imagine Mumsnet will become a really fantastic resource for lots of horsey people.

SwedesInACape · 09/01/2009 22:59

Iorek - How lovely to see you.

OP posts:
teafortwo · 09/01/2009 22:59

congratulations all horse lovers!!!

Enjoy your new topic!!!!

BOCCA - DID YOU SAY FREEEEEEEEE MUFFINS!!!

Sounds good to me...

"We all love Muffin, Muffin the Mule!!!"

  • Anyone want to walk over with me too???
BoccaDellaVerita · 09/01/2009 23:00

Swedes - My DD is positively elderly in comparison. She should be fine, then, although I'm not sure whether our local school has indoor facilities. Something else to fit in with Brownies, ballet, gymnastics ....

SwedesInACape · 09/01/2009 23:04

Iorek - Is your DD interested in riding? How old is she?

OP posts:
pointydog · 09/01/2009 23:04

I think it depends very much on teh school/stables. The first one dd1 went to only took on children aged 8 and over.

IorekByrnison · 09/01/2009 23:17

Hullo! Dd is very interested but the local riding school only starts them at 6. She regularly takes a short pony ride at the local farm though.

(I'm afraid I don't really know anything about bits and snaffles, I just thought I saw an opportunity to post something that sounded a little smutty.)
