... does it really have to be called My little pony? I am sorry if that sounds ungrateful but I am worried we might upset people who really want to discuss what to do about Glittery Prancer's lost sequinned comb.

I think 'Mumsnet pony club' would attract the right sort.

I wouldn't say all teh rest are sensible. They are becoming more light in tone. Sleb Twaddle, Forces Sweethearts, Culture Vultures, that sort of thing.

SwedesInACape · 09/01/2009 19:56

I like the Tack Room.

Stuffitllama, there are always 'differences of opinion' on vaccinations threads. It would just be another version of AIBU. Us horsey folk are all lovely to each other so we deserve our own topic.

stuffitllama · 09/01/2009 20:00

but parents of unvaccinated children have concerns and information to share too

it wouldn't be a food fight all day

hippipotami · 09/01/2009 20:04

Roffle at this thread,

I don't like any of the suggested names (sorry Justine), but then I don't own a horse so perhaps I should trot outta here...

But I like the Tack Room.

And if dd persists in her pestering and gets riding lessons I may once again myself become obsessed with our four-hooved friends

Pixel · 09/01/2009 20:11

I agree, (I'm one of those parents too) but you know, someone who hasn't read the thread always jumps in and says how irresponsible it is not to vaccinate, what about the greater good? etc etc and then it all kicks off. You know it's true.

Anyway, STOP trying to hijack our horsey thread

Yurtgirl · 09/01/2009 20:14

My little pony is vile! Im not a horsey person myself but I reckon all my horsey friends would think it was rather patronising!!

SwedesInACape · 09/01/2009 20:15

Stuffit - There aren't many obvious advertising tie-ins with a vaccinations thread.

DO NOT CARE WHAT IT IS CALLED, AM JUST EXCITED IT IS FINALLY HERE!

now to perfect my recipe for glittery fly repellent, ready for summer

Pixel · 09/01/2009 20:20

Thing is, my instructor, who appears normal in every other way, would love this. She collects My Little Ponies . I wonder if she has friends at MNHQ?

mysterymoniker · 09/01/2009 20:22

I can't open my thread about horse insurance

wanted to read about sykes' fantasy horse

IotasCat · 09/01/2009 20:25

Horses for Courses

Pixel · 09/01/2009 20:25

I couldn't open that either, thought it was just me as computer is being terribly slow.

Glittery fly repellent? ? ?
I bet Katie Price would buy a gallon off you. I can't we are too near the airport, we would be blinding the pilots coming in to land .

stuffitllama · 09/01/2009 20:26

horses shmorses

I do know it's true but that's not a reason for not having a topic. Everyone jumps in everywhere on everything and offends everybody and somebody always gets upset. I bet someone will jump in here and start talking about animal cruelty one day.

I think Swedes has her nose to the ground (ear to the lamp post?) on this one

PoloPlayingMummy · 09/01/2009 20:26

No, I can't open the horse insurance one either - thought it was just me (had a little name change - new year, new name - was IsaacsFabMummy)- I wanted to "see" the fantasy horse too.

Stretch · 09/01/2009 20:26

This thread is so funny!! I do like only foals and horses!!

stuffitllama · 09/01/2009 20:28

the animal cruelty thing came over wrong .. am not suggesting things at all

advocateofthedevil · 09/01/2009 20:30

to see the horse insurance, search for messages posted by sykes from yesterday to today and then click on one of them.

pointydog · 09/01/2009 20:35

iota. I was going to post that but thought my glib suggestions were being met a little frostily.

Threadworm · 09/01/2009 20:35

Actually, I've changed my mind again. I think MN will become a bloated 'all things to all women' with this proliferation of topics. Once you have horses, people will prob ask for dogs (much more intuitively plausible as a topic than horses) and cats (ditto).

Fair enough to have a pets topic, as an adjunct to more mainstream areas of the site, but the possibilities for proliferation are endless.

I (and many others) will hide the horse topic -- but that just means more fragmentation of the site and less of an MN community.

MN doesn't have to replicate the range of subjects that might exist on forums across the internet as a whole.

IotasCat · 09/01/2009 20:38

Too right

Where's the cat topic?

cazboldy · 09/01/2009 20:40

Yes , but horses are not exactly pets......

not in the same way as hamsters, dogs, cats, gerbils, rabbits etc.....

mysterymoniker · 09/01/2009 20:41

thanks advocateofthedevil - it worked!

cazboldy · 09/01/2009 20:41

and there are lots of topics that are more relevant to some than others like Larger families, gay parents, lone parents etc

Guadalupe · 09/01/2009 20:42

You mean the thread in active convos isn't asking about insuring their My Little Pony? I thought maybe they had a rare Candy Blossom with all the brushes from the eighties.
