My toddler wants to name his new mini Shetland mare 'Kevin' HELP

Collecting our new pony tomorrow. A tiny miniature coloured mare, who currently has no name. She is passported as 'Ponette deux' because she was the second pony to be passported that day, apparently they were all passported that way but with 'trois, quarter, cinq' etc...

So, I asked my dear son what he would like to call her.

Son's response: KEVIIIIN!

I did try to explain that, she was a girl, but I got a death stare in return, and I'm drawing a bit of a blank with names.

I was hoping I might get some ideas here that I can suggest to him. The little mare is the sassiest little thing I've ever met, so something different to match her larger than life attitude and that's fun and quirky enough too.

OR... do we just go ahead and name her Kevin?

Kevin is an awesome name.

We recently got a dog and Ds wanted to call him Kevin but he was already 12 weeks and responded to his given name so we stuck with that (Bert).

In my local dog walking field there is a dashshund (sp?) called Dave. I love him.

My mum's cat is named Gary. She's a girl. I really don't see the issue. Smile

jumpjumpformylove · 27/04/2017 21:32

Guitargirl · 27/04/2017 21:34

Cambergirl · 27/04/2017 21:40

Kevin is great!

surroundedbyblondes · 27/04/2017 21:52

The riding school I go to has an Alan 😄

Charmatt · 27/04/2017 21:56

I called my robot vacuum cleaner Kevin and everyone refers to him by name. Our cat is called Brendan - if we ever had another we would call him Gary. I don't see a problem at all!Grin

Floweringjasmine · 28/04/2017 08:58

My riding school has a turkey called Tyrone who wanders around arguing in turkey talk with the horses Grin

Wasn't there a trend in France a while ago for people to name their children "Kevin" after Mr Costner?
I think it's a brilliant name for a pony.

BertrandRussell · 28/04/2017 09:00

My friend has a gorgeous cob mare called Tiny Dave.

I was at a show at the weekend, there was a little palomino called hufflepuff doing lead rein.

We all wanted a hufflepuff!

ThatGirl82 · 28/04/2017 09:07

I had a lovely pet hamster called Kevin. It's a great name!

peukpokicuzo · 28/04/2017 09:18

Yay for Kevin the pony. I am sure she will be brilliant.

I just remembered this article, but I don't think the pony will be bothered about being called Kevin.

Frouby · 28/04/2017 11:11

My friend inherited an elderly shetland mare called Horace. She was ace. Boss of all of the world!

Stormtreader · 28/04/2017 11:16

I was going to suggest Kerryn but I'm too late, Kevin it is! :D

KatyBerry · 28/04/2017 11:16

Maybe Kevin is trans or questioning and is trying out a more masculine identity?
Photo please!

xStefx · 28/04/2017 11:19

Great name, your son has great taste

cakesandphotos · 28/04/2017 11:20

Our cat is called Brian. Kevin for a miniature Shetland is fabulous!

ZeldaWasMyGransName · 28/04/2017 11:20

KEVIN. (That is all)

ZeldaWasMyGransName · 28/04/2017 11:21

Also KatyBerry has a point. Kevin might be gender non binary.

vintagechick43 · 28/04/2017 11:22

I'm reading this then notice Kevin McCloud is being interviewed on this morning!!! Definitely an omen !! Maybe have McCloud as a second name then you could always shorten her name to cloud.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 28/04/2017 11:23

Kevin is marvellous.

Perhaps spell it as Kevinne for maximum French Femme points?

Wildfox90 · 28/04/2017 14:32

Well, as promised, here she is! Introducing Kevin... Grin

She's in need of a little TLC. Hooves desperately need a good trim, never seen a dentist in her life so that's booked in and a full once over from the vet next week, also worm counting asap as she has never been wormed.

I love her! I can wait to collect child from crèche, he's going to be delighted Smile

Kevin was the right name choice I think!
