Who the fuck dumps there horse in MY field

MagicLlama · 16/11/2012 20:26

So ive gone down to let my horses in tonight, and there is an extra fucking horse in my field. I know its not mine. I know it wasnt there at 7:30 this morning. I know its been put in because the lock is cut off. CUT off. Theve cut my padlock off to put an additional horse IN!! IN!!

It went crazy when I took mine in to the stables, so I had no choice. Hes now in a stable with a haynet.

Ive rang round locally and noone appears willing to claim him. Ive rang the police, and theve advised me to put un an abandonement notice telling whoever owns him they have 14 days to shift him, before he becomes mine, and apparently hes my legal responsibility in the meantime because hes on my land.

WTF do I do now?

Poor poor boy Sad I think I'd have to keep him

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday · 20/11/2012 21:04

Blimey it is like Jump.

Can we have a MN syndicate? Can he go for training at Rupert Campbell-Blacks?

MissChristmastRee · 20/11/2012 21:08

Can we get everyone on MN to donate a pound a month to go towards his care? he can become the MN horse Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/11/2012 21:13

Ohhh poor LostBoy - I genuinely do not understand how someone could do this. Even if you can't cope with an animal any more, for whatever reason, you have a responsibility to find them a decent home.

You are a star for looking after him, MagicLlama.

lisad123 · 20/11/2012 21:18

Poor big :(

BettySuarez · 20/11/2012 21:25

How sad Sad

Would be very happy to donate to his upkeep though.

MmeLindor · 20/11/2012 21:28

I am with Taggie. He can be the MN horse. Taggie can flutter her silver eyes and Rupes to get him to agree.

caramelwaffle · 20/11/2012 21:39

How sad. He sounds lovely. And I only just finished reading Jump last month. Am on to Wicked

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday · 20/11/2012 21:42

I sat on a horse once and promptly fell off. Everything I know about horsey stuff I have gleaned from Jilly Cooper.

Oh. Can you call him Cooper? Thats a very good name.

We can be connections Grin

TuftyFinch · 20/11/2012 21:48

Oh poor boy Sad. You are very lovely to be so kind to him. I'm crying a little bit for poor horse. I'd be happy to have him in my little field but I think it's too little and I don't know how to look after horses. Apart from being kind. I think he ended up in your field by design rather than accident. Someone knows you'll look after him, they may even be very sad about it but just couldn't afford him. Not fair on you but.
I'd be happy to chip in for his keep if there's any way you could keep him. Poor boy.

CiderwithBuda · 20/11/2012 21:54

Poor horse. Thank God he did get dumped with you.

MmeLindor · 20/11/2012 21:55

Cooper is a fab name.

Do you want those of us on Twitter to put a call out, just in case someone is looking for him?

yani · 20/11/2012 21:57

Magic - I've been following your thread & half hoping that he wasn't chipped!
I'm not sure how ownership is legally defined, but it would be awful for you to spend lots of money not to mention fall in love with him only for the previous owners to snatch him back in the dead of night.
Long term, could you look for a competent sharer to bring him on, or contact local mfh to see if they could use him this season, assuming he's sound?
Really wish I lived near you!

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday · 20/11/2012 22:02

Where are you Magic? (kind of hoping you are down the road - i could come and brush him or something uselss)

edam · 20/11/2012 22:04

Oh, that's really sad. Poor horse that no-one wants. Bit of a bugger for you.

If he's a Lost Boy, shouldn't he be called Peter Pan?

gordyslovesheep · 20/11/2012 22:06

Oh poor poor lost boy :(

I am in Staffs - and while I can't take him I will happily come and feed him treats and give him loves Grin

Landy77 · 20/11/2012 22:09

Poor lost boy he really sounds like he has fallen on his hooves! Such an awful and frightening story

PrincessSymbian · 20/11/2012 22:13

Crappy crap! Sadly horses do eat through money in a huge way. But a solution must be out there and I think the idea of a mumsnet horse is a fab one!

ThatVikRinA22 · 20/11/2012 22:14

i have to confess that as a police officer i have once broken into a field to put a stray horse....it was wandering in the middle of the road, it was at risk of being hit by cars and it was 4am, i could not find the owner, and i broke into a field to ensure he was safe.

i went back 4 days later and he had gone so i assume his rightful owner had reclaimed him.

i want a horse....why does no one dump a horse on my doorstep?

i would have horsenapped this one i found but he wouldnt have coped very well with the hack down the motorway to get home.....Grin

Leo35 · 20/11/2012 22:17

So sorry that this is rumbling on. I was hoping for a (tearful) reunion of horse and owner very soon. Guess you are thinking about your options. The loan idea might be worth considering if you do decide to keep him, he could earn his keep (so to speak) until you have some more time to devote to him?

A tricky situation for you. Hope some of the other methods of searching find something out for you.

difficultpickle · 20/11/2012 22:18

Have you got a good riding stable near you that might take him? When I was a lot younger I used to ride the most fabulous ex race horse. He hadn't made it in racing but he was still incredibly fast out on hacks and really lovely to ride.

lia66 · 20/11/2012 22:30

Oh blimey, i am in staffs and would happily send dd over with treats and hay for him, she's 17 and would love a horse but can't afford one. She could help you with mucking out and such too. Genuine offer if you decide to keep him and need a bit of a hand with him.

prelim29 · 20/11/2012 22:30

Poor horsey. Perhaps you could advertise him (on H&H forum for example) as a full loan project - to stay within an ** mile area so you can keep an eye on him? Or maybe try the pony club website classified page which have a loan section. I'm sure there are people out there with sufficient funds to start him as a project. If the lameness is superficial he may well make a super riding horse. Fingers crossed for the poor boy. I'd love to offer him a home and have room but sadly no funds to pay for his keep (my 2 already eat every £10 note I will ever earn!). Hope to hear some positive news.x

Plomino · 20/11/2012 22:39

Dammit ! What about Wetherby's ? If he's a proper TB he has to be registered with them , so if you have the chip number , they might be able to marry it up with his passport , which should be kept up to date .

I am actually looking for another horse , but I think I'm too far away ! Besides currently being out of the saddle as it were .

mercibucket · 20/11/2012 22:42

Can you set up a fund for his feed and we all donate a little bit? Maybe via a local horse rescue that we could donate to and you then 'foster' him, so it all looks legit (you know this money/internet/stranger thing)
