In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 68th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from previous threads…
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

What a sensible graphic that is Jan! Genuinely more information that I have ever seen of the CO2 monitors and looks like I’m really the moderate risk band, hence why my SLT make ‘noises’ but nothing really happens apart from, ‘Can’t you open more windows’???

echt-sorry to have missed: Cheers on your final lesson! 🥂

WhenSheWasBad · 12/12/2021 09:43

I’m starting to think school closures (individual schools) is inevitable in January.

If Omicron does escape the vaccines and it is as transmissible as we think it is. Then it’s going to go through pupils and teachers like a dose of salts.
There simply won’t be the staff needed to open in a lot of schools.

Am I being a bit doom and gloom about this? It’s bad enough looking at all the Xs on the register now. New year could be much worse.

namechangedyetagain · 12/12/2021 11:36

Can I ask a quick question pls? Our first ECT progress report is due, as yet has not been done. There is a bit that says 'is the ect cause for concern and do they know?' And have they been offered a support plan?

So far no one has mentioned verbally or in writing that I am . Would this be the time that I find out? On the form? Without chance so far to put right whatever is wrong?

I'm getting myself into a state over it. I'm exhausted, have a cold so not feeling well and not sleeping. I honestly don't know how I'll make it to Friday😮

13luckyblackcats · 12/12/2021 12:26

My county one has been done, from when I did it it seemed like it would reflect negatively on the school if that was the first time a trainee heard they were going to be on a support plan. There was also a section for ECT response to the mentor comments.

MrsHamlet · 12/12/2021 12:37

There should be no surprises in induction. If you were considered to be in need of a support plan, you should know before it appears on that form.

MrsHamlet · 12/12/2021 12:38

It's not actually meant to be the mentor who does the form. It's the induction lead.
In reality, it's the mentors but the IL is the one who signs it off.

JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 14:32

You’re right When, especially if household and other omicron-contacts don’t have to isolate from next week.

eitak22 · 12/12/2021 14:52

Urgh the sun has started with schools might not open. I stupidly looked at the comments and even people try and explain schools were closed the posters blame it being closed on unions or say it wasn't fair or they didn't get enough work. I hate that if schools close it'll be our fault except it won't it'll be the government's but we're all workshy for not wanting to get sick/die.

LolaSmiles · 12/12/2021 14:57

Anyone who listens to The Sun needs to seriously think about their intelligence.

The worrying thing is enough people will get annoyed. There's threads at the moment where OPs are getting annoyed at schools wanting to have mitigation measures in place because it's so unreasonable wanting to run a school in a way that is as safe as possible for everyone.

None of these posters seem to have noticed that schools were closed to most pupils for months precisely because transmission was high and it was causing issues.

What chance do schools have when some parents genuinely think the way to keep schools open and functioning well as much as possible is to have no mitigation measures and let everyone get Covid in time for Christmas.

DenbyChina · 12/12/2021 16:29

But they won’t get covid - parents in my area are admitting boasting that they aren’t testing their children any more because they don’t want their Christmas ruined.

Anyone else see those two secondary school children who died due to covid? Tiny piece in the Daily Mail and that’s the only place I’ve seen it.

JanglyBeads · 12/12/2021 17:49

Reported more in wales Denby. Dreadful.

It's only the induction lead that has observed me. But no one has mentioned support plans or anything like that.

I'm very stressed, I'm not thinking straight and still need to get them to learn this week. I'm reassured that other y3 data is equally as dodgy. How I'm going to get everyone (apart from those with sen) to expected i have no idea though.

I can also see some kind of lockdown heading our way. Though i suspect that as schools we will be completely immune to covid and get told to carry on as normal.

WhenSheWasBad · 12/12/2021 18:51

You see name not just you with dodgy Year 3 data.

I think you are right about some kind of additional restrictions. Thank goodness Covid doesn’t spread in schools, so they can stay open with zero mitigation’s Hmm

Just watched Johnson’s address to the nation.

I hereby give you this link. If you look closely at Johnson ‘getting’ his booster jab, you’ll see that the cap is on the needle and nurse has no gloves on. It therefore appears that our dear leader --who appeared on TV in a dirty and crumpled suit

It appears he faked his booster jab is my basic point.

winewolfhowls · 12/12/2021 20:14

Big hugs to you Name, its not just you, everyone is knackered and just hanging on for dear life at the moment 💐

Boris Johnson. Lying? Shock surely not Grin

I listen on the radio. Did he look worse than normal?

noblegiraffe · 12/12/2021 20:20

Keir's boosterer wasn't wearing gloves either, but at least hid the top of the needle.

He managed to have his buttons in the right holes and not mention Peppa Pig so I'd say better than usual.
OytheBumbler · 13/12/2021 07:16

[quote Fenelladepompom]Interesting news from the US.

Goodness! Tips? Holiday funds? People appreciating teachers?

There didn’t seem to be much appreciation here at any time during the pandemic! Of course Mumsnet doesn’t really reflect a balanced view where anything to do with education is concerned.

Piggyinblankets · 13/12/2021 09:14

This is astute I think:

There’s a question of association, too, perhaps. For a lot of people, school functionality is the single biggest barometer of where we are in the pandemic
