You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

Well done to all the staffroom DC who got their results yesterday 🥳 well deserved!

I'm not a fan of Gavin at all but Kemi seems like an option that is 100x worse Shock

JanglyBeads · 11/08/2021 12:28

Have people seen the Staffroom thread about primary class allocations 👀 ?!

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 12:40

Oh, that statement from the DFE that mentions academies...tossers

CallmeHendricks · 11/08/2021 12:45

@JanglyBeads, it's hilarious!

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2021 12:47

Batshit

But there is a teacher wellbeing survey too on staffroom!

LolaSmiles · 11/08/2021 14:00

Catching up with the thread. Congratulations to everyone whose DC have results in.

Latest Schools Infection Study, from June tests:

Meanwhile it’s being reported that a few serious cases of Covid amongst 16-17 yos led to the decision to proceed with vaccinating that age group.

namechangedyetagain · 11/08/2021 15:24

Afternoon all, thank you for the new thread and congratulations to all of those who got their results yesterday.

I've been quiet lately, struggling actually and not completely sure why. I think it was probably the end of PGCE, then not really knowing how to switch off, and now a touch of anxiety about next year.

What if I can't remember how to teach? What if they just passed me because they had to? What if I was only offered a job because they were being kind? Have a high proportion working towards. What if I can't help them make progress? I have so much swirling in my head and I feel like I should be doing SOMETHING.

I'm away this week with the family and I'm just exhausted so now I feel like I'm wasting my holiday too (though weather not that great).

Also the anniversary of losing D B is looming so that's playing on my mind as well. Feel quite in a muddle. No one needs to reply, I think i just needed to get it out Flowers

Medra · 11/08/2021 15:56

@namechangedyetagain I have exactly the same worries and I’ve been teaching 20 years. Happens every September.

JanglyBeads · 11/08/2021 15:58

But we want to reply, when, and say we all worry and it’s never as bad as we think!
Enjoy your break, probably some relaxation and positive family time are the best things for your teaching at this stage!

Monkeytennis97 · 11/08/2021 16:30

@namechangedyetagain quite normal. Entering 26th year now and feel the same x

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/08/2021 16:41

Hi all, hope you're having lovely breaks. The half way point for me today. I went straight from school aaagh into house renovation aaagh. All the decisions and logistics, and having no way of closing the house at all for three weeks - literally no walls on the back of the house! Combine that with family funerals and Olympics obsessional watching, I've not had time to even think about work. We went to the Lakes for a weekend (mad idea), and are now in Cornwall while our kitchen is fitted. No kitchen for 2 weeks was a takeaway-fest - felt ill by the time we came away. Not planning on working until the last couple of days, but had front loaded, so not too concerned.

Well done to all involved in A-level malarky, sorry to hear some are covid-struck. Shit timing.

Looking forward to our new 'anti-woke' Ed minister Confused

JanglyBeads · 11/08/2021 16:54

hi rule, hope your break is good after all that!

CallmeHendricks · 11/08/2021 16:58

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot, were you around when we de-camped to a 'potential meet-up' group?

MrsHamlet · 11/08/2021 17:03

@namechangedyetagain all those worries are totally normal.
You'll have a mentor and an induction tutor for the ECF... and we're all here too. I know I'm in a different age range to you but induction is one of my hats, so do please ask if you get stuck with anything general.

Appuskidu · 11/08/2021 17:09

I must have missed that, too! Where is that hiding?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/08/2021 17:23

Yes, I know about the meet up group. Have no time to meet up though!

CallmeHendricks · 11/08/2021 18:10

You can come on over for a chat though?

Not sure of the link - Noble and JanFeb will know.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/08/2021 18:23

Ah yeah probably. I'll message Jan back.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/08/2021 18:25

I joined for the meet but can't make the date. But I've stuck around for the chat. :)

CallmeHendricks · 11/08/2021 18:29

There are photos and everything!
MrsH rocks some funky boots.

namechangedyetagain · 11/08/2021 20:11

I always imagine Mrs H as very glam so the boots are a given Smile

HarrietDVane · 11/08/2021 20:38

@JanFebAnyMonth I've just found your message from ages ago re: meet up chat and have sent a response. Sorry it's taken so long!

namechangedyetagain · 11/08/2021 20:41

And thank you for the reassurance. 3 weeks today I'll be employed and that's a bit of a scary prospect. I think I need a good sleep and to feel less urgh.
