You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

We are still waiting advice on chairs and masks but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays.Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask.

I may have forgotten or added some Ks!!

@TheHoneyBadger for my T3 was LIFECHANGING. Took me 2 years of fighting to get it from my hospital consultant but they conceded after 3 months of seeing me on it that it was utterly necessary. You can order it online under liothyronine. Honestly can't do without it. T4 never did enough.

Piggywaspushed · 15/07/2021 20:01

DS just reminded me there was a Kaitlyn.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/07/2021 20:03

I bought a Wii out of nostalgia over lockdown. I can't do the mad games ds plays on his ps4 and I suddenly just wanted to play mario karts, supermario and all the wii sports. It's mostly sat unused tbh but will maybe get more use over summer. I need to play supermario on my own for a bit to get my skills up so it's not so painful playing with ds who hasn't got the patient to wait so I end up dying because he's gone off the screen without me Angry

I grew up on spectrums, then sega master system then megadrive and then onto the first playstation as a very young adult. The only thing I've really enjoyed since then is the wii hence treating us to having one again.

MsAwesome I remember when computer magazines came with a free game but it wasn't even a disk, it came with the printed game code that you had to type in yourself.

Hours lost to Chuckie Egg.

MrsHamlet · 15/07/2021 20:04

Update from the LA: we've got our bonus day :)
I took it to our NEM who has made it happen!

TheHoneyBadger · 15/07/2021 20:04

That's interesting phleb. I've never had that ahh relief all is better moment from my treatment that other people talk about. Used to wonder about T3.

Naughty boy names: Kyle, Jayden, Aaron. Jack and Harry also have form, but that could be because there are just so many of them.

Naughty girl names: Lacey, Skyler, anything that starts with K when it shouldn't (Kloe, Klare, Krystal...)

HarrietDVane · 15/07/2021 20:15

I remember when computer magazines came with a free game but it wasn't even a disk, it came with the printed game code that you had to type in yourself.

I remember those too! Hours and hours of painstaking typing only to find it didn't work properly...! Grin

MsAwesomeDragon · 15/07/2021 20:15

Me too noble. My dad used to write his own games and sell them on cassette for £5 each, which is quite a lot considering how long ago it was. Such happy memories!!

My female Bob is a Jasmine. Oh my goodness she is hard work. Drama llama princess. Full face of make up worn to school (year 3!) as well as multiple different hair accessories every day different, about 64 different water bottles and lunch bags and school bags literally encrusted with bling. Hideous.

JanFebAnyMonth · 15/07/2021 20:25

One of my exes began teaching how to program during a period of unemployment. It was really interesting, I’d forgotten!

In other news, my sister has just rung me and asked to come and stay in a fortnight. That is a mixed blessing. I nearly tried to convince her that we did have room for her here and she didn’t need to book into the Travelodge up the road and then I remembered that the weekend will go better with some separation so backtracked....

JanFebAnyMonth · 15/07/2021 20:25

Why have I just used an American spelling????

😱

JanFebAnyMonth · 15/07/2021 20:26

Surely primary school uniform rules specify No makeup, corner??

noblegiraffe · 15/07/2021 20:28

Where is your American spelling?

Hercisback · 15/07/2021 20:34

Make up in year 3 corner, that's quite scary.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/07/2021 20:34

Program

JanFebAnyMonth · 15/07/2021 20:36

Here we go, apparently schools have had guidance this evening on how T&T will work from Monday (hold onto something steady again):
www.tes.com/news/covid-contacts-what-schools-need-know-next-week?fbclid=IwAR0oLVoS38z85yfcPl6E137IgZeAGX5zebUrMNyF9A4NyQljr4NOhpi1hIk

noblegiraffe · 15/07/2021 20:36

Isn’t that just the correct spelling when it’s computing?

Timeturnerplease · 15/07/2021 20:39

@Piggywaspushed I’d agree with Kian as ‘beyond Bob’. Primary here, so also comes with a pathologising mother who has managed to get him labelled with an entire alphabet of disorders. Because of his ‘issues’ the entire class must rearrange their timetable/seating plan/lunch arrangements to cater for him and his many whims.

Alfies seem to have anger issues too. We’ve had a chair thrower Alfie and a kicker Alfie recently.

Anyone with a uniquely spelt girls name is usually hard work. Parents are usually batshit too.

Piggywaspushed · 15/07/2021 20:41

So basically they are starting the no need to SI stuff next week in schools. ... And yet this week we have had 8 cases, many linked.

I note the reference to sleepovers.

phlebasconsidered · 15/07/2021 20:41

I can remember spending hours on the family Amstrad typing code just to my name to flash in cyan.

Most games took 30 mins to load from casette, if you were lucky. I loved Jet Set Willy, KnightLore and Harrier Attack.

In Cambridge the Museum of Computing History has them all- you can still play them. And old arcade games. Ds was horrified/entranced by the old games, old blocky looking Lara Crofts!

Piggywaspushed · 15/07/2021 20:42

Alfie, Albie and Ali in my class...

noblegiraffe · 15/07/2021 20:42

Where known the contact details of the identified close contacts will be passed to T&T. By the infected person.

What if they don’t know the contact details? What if they only have the contact details of the child? Are T&T going to be ringing kids? That’s wrong, isn’t it? So basically unless Bob has the contact details for Alfie’s mum, no one gets contacted.
