You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

We are still waiting advice on chairs and masks but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays.Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask.

@noblegiraffe

I totally read that as Nobland, Jan which is much shitter than Legoland.
Depends what you’re looking for I guess.
noblegiraffe · 11/07/2021 15:03

@CallmeHendricks

Yeah, nob, you might be first in the firing line for the U4T nutter serial killer's spray of bullets.
Comforting.

I also remember what happened to William Wallace Shock

motherrunner · 11/07/2021 15:05

Sorry @noblegiraffe. I was too busy focussing on his rebellion and not the fact he sacrifices himself 😆

Mistressiggi · 11/07/2021 15:06

From my perspective you all live down south. I can distinguish between below Birmingham/above Birmingham.
(Below Birmingham is where Legoland is Grin)

motherrunner · 11/07/2021 15:07

Well @Mistressiggi I live on your /

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/07/2021 15:07

I'm in Oxfordshire.

Anyone seen the new EY reading guidance from the DfE? Hahaahahaaaaaaaaargh. Apparently anyone who needs to be will be in specialist provision, so don't worry about moderate SEND. Having an absolute laugh, it's like the person who wrote it (it genuinely reads like one person's opinion) has never met a 4 year old, and knows nothing about specialist provision availability.

Where the chocolate comes from, Motherunner? Have been there Smile

motherrunner · 11/07/2021 15:13

On a serious note can I ask what would be a lovely present for my son’s TA? You all know he hasn’t been diagnosed yet (2000 kids in queue in our region) but luckily his school as recognised he needs a dedicated TA. This year she has taught him to play piano in his sensory time out and she has encouraged him to work independently so much so when he does his homework at weekends he does it himself without any intervention from us.

I don’t know what to give or say that encompasses our gratitude.

So many school trips there.
borntobequiet · 11/07/2021 15:17

I’m on the hill, SW Midlands, where the neighbours either join in with the singing or threaten to shoot you. 12 min from the M5 but a bugger to find.

cantkeepawayforever · 11/07/2021 15:22

I'm a bit to the left of Rule.

Hercisback · 11/07/2021 15:24

born Are you near the place Brummies refer to as "round the XX"?

West mids here too, border 3 counties.

JanFebAnyMonth · 11/07/2021 15:26

Oh it’s a good thing I never posted my list I was substantially wrong about you, rule!

piggy, (and anyone else interested), have you seen this:

JanFebAnyMonth · 11/07/2021 15:28

Yes there’s a few is us in SE midlands and a few in SW Midlands, had definitely clocked that.

cantkeepawayforever · 11/07/2021 15:33

I'm in that in-between SW-not-quite-midlands-but-not-deep-SW bit. Where local news is Midlands Today but all the more exciting events and urban areas discussed in the news are North of us.

motherrunner · 11/07/2021 15:35

@Hercisback we must be very close. I can drive through another 2 counties from me in 15 minutes.

motherrunner · 11/07/2021 15:36

And I love good walk ‘round the XXX’

Hercisback · 11/07/2021 15:47

mother I'm the east side of the west mids. Are you nearer the black country? We won't be far away.

StaffRepFeistyClub · 11/07/2021 15:48

the problem is that the DfE peeps are far away from the coalface and have very little understanding of day to day operations. All they do is create papers/rules and collect/analyse data so everything is broken down into figures.

There should be a rule within the DfE that if you work there then you need to spend time on a regular basis in state schools (not private/grammar etc). Without that they will never get respect

I can be is South Staffs in 5 minutes and Shropshire in 10.

Mistressiggi · 11/07/2021 15:52

I'm just waiting for two of you to realise you're in the same school Grin

DanglingMod · 11/07/2021 15:53

@2kidsintow

One of our yeargroup bubbles has popped.

Their teacher came into work Thursday feeling rough and told me they thought they had covid at break time. Then, when told to go and get a test, went back into class and taught til lunch as their test wasnt til that pm.

Positive.

Is she the type who would make use of a voucher for a beauty treatment?
