You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay have the bestest time EVER!

MrsHamlet · 09/07/2021 12:06

I've just been accused of being petty for pointing out that the calendar has 190 pupil days instead of 189. By a union rep 🤦🏼‍♀️

Appuskidu · 09/07/2021 12:12

@Piggywaspushed

Thanks jan : this is astonishing

However, reviews into the policy are ongoing, and Test and Trace may not consider those in schools as contacts unless there is a major outbreak, The Independent understands. Unions have therefore asked the DfE to urgently clarify the definition of what “contact” means within the school setting.

We’ll be back to adverts saying that school buildings are 100% covid secure. No close contacts will therefore need to be identified. There is nothing to see here…
noblegiraffe · 09/07/2021 12:44

Enjoy seeing your mum, Rafa!!

JanFebAnyMonth · 09/07/2021 13:33

Oh crikey I obviously hadn’t read that bit. We’re going to be in lockdown again at this rate aren’t we?! (NB non-specific use of “rate”, although it be used specifically too at the moment....)

StationView · 09/07/2021 14:09

@MrsHamlet, that isn't petty! It's correct!

Three kids who did D of E silver last week have tested positive. Utter insanity even to run the trip IMHO.

HSHorror · 09/07/2021 14:47

So 25 kids died but surely the figures are disingenuous. As thats 25/however many have had covid. Not all kids.
So 25 of 20% of 12m.
Anyway 4x kids to get to 80%. So another 75 kids?
But also refelected in hospitalization and icu.

I see no predicted from gov.

Dp was just determined that school contacts could test pcr and be released. Oh dear.

HSHorror · 09/07/2021 14:47

Do you think it was the transport or the camping??

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/07/2021 15:15

@MrsHamlet is that because of the extra bank holiday or is it always 189… in union rep should I know this 🤣🤣🤣

TheHoneyBadger · 09/07/2021 15:31

Nope. After 16th Aug you can continue of double vaccinated. If now you have to isolate. Is your DS okay?

No. That's the situation I am in - DD has symptoms and is waiting for the results of a PCR following positive LFT.

I'm at home self-isolating with her and had to get a PCR too, following current guidance. I am LFT negative and double jabbed, she is LFT positive and single jabbed.

He’s fine I was thinking about next term. How is that ok? Would parents be told their children are being taught by someone who is living with a positive case?

Madness. I’m also not comfortable with being forced to leave ds home alone for 10 days and you can’t send them anywhere else. And he’s 14.

Piggywaspushed · 09/07/2021 16:06

Well, Nad is talking bollocks there. As per.

HSHorror · 09/07/2021 16:14

Another case here. Thats 4 i think.

On the plus side, it means CAHMS is trending on Twitter.

🤷‍♀️

motherrunner · 09/07/2021 16:19

My kids’ school is letting them go in at 11 on Monday and they can wear red, white and blue.

noblegiraffe · 09/07/2021 16:43

Meanwhile in the US, a court has just approved for a school to continue giving electric shocks to 'misbehaving' SEN pupils. Shock

www.the-sun.com/news/3250029/school-wins-court-battle-electric-shock-therapy-pupils/

The headline says therapy, it's not, it's more like using a cattle prod.

Piggywaspushed · 09/07/2021 16:47

Jesus that story gets worse the more of it you read.

MrsHamlet · 09/07/2021 17:13

@MrsHerculePoirot it's the extra bank holiday. Directed time is down from 1265 too

Appuskidu · 09/07/2021 18:16

Just seen this for sale on FB, @noblegiraffe

Reminds me of Chris!

We're keeping registers open until 10am on Monday. Seems ok.

I've seen the timetables for next year. I really, really hope that they get stuck to because it would be so nice to go back to normal timings and class logistics. Felt almost nostalgic looking at it.
