You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I genuinely cannot put in print what I am thinking herc

MrsH dunno if you are watching the football but I thought of you with that tortuous Hamlet analogy/pun.

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 20:10

I am not but now I need to google it!

CarrieBlue · 07/07/2021 20:20

One who has gaps in their subject knowledge, if other threads are anything to go by. On other threads I have tried to mention subject knowledge is more than having a degree and that it's about having the right knowledge for the students in front of you, but it didn't go down well.

Not sure they always remember what subject it is they’re teaching either, I’m sure there’s been at least two very contrasting ones mentioned.

cantkeepawayforever · 07/07/2021 20:25

English and Chemistry are the two I recall so far.

AttaGirrrrl · 07/07/2021 20:29

Hahah. Just seen the OG conversation here. I really read it as ‘old guard’ but I’ve put some ‘creative’ suggestions on the other thread.

LolaSmiles · 07/07/2021 20:29

We started with Science and then swapped to English. All the interview and interview lesson planning threads have been about English.

Hercisback · 07/07/2021 20:32

I thought they started as Chemistry. Unless there are two out there 😱

PumpkinPie2016 · 07/07/2021 20:38

@Hercisback I reckon there may be two 🤯 I saw and replied to a few of the Chemistry ones but have definitely seen lots of English threads too!

10 days to go here - feeling tired now Sad

Been looking at new Y7 info - 89 not secondary ready pupils and a lot of SEND needs so a complex year group. Lots to think about in terms of supporting them in September!

LolaSmiles · 07/07/2021 20:41

There's some uncanny similarities between them. We're on 5 different usernames now I think.

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 20:43

I think you missed omnibenevolent gurus atta.

AttaGirrrrl · 07/07/2021 20:55

GURUS!! That’s what I needed Grin

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/07/2021 21:06

I’ve started a thread on Covid board but it may attract no one as it’s more of a notice really - important scientists and politicians holidays what they call an Emergency Summit tomorrow morning about the latest batshit plan. Letter in Lancet embargoed til 1130pm (why would you embargo, it’s not like a race or election??)

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/07/2021 21:07

*hold, not holidays Grin

HarrietDVane · 07/07/2021 21:24

I've definitely seen posts from 'Chemistry' and 'English' trainees with a very particular writing style. I stopped engaging after one of them asserted that we don't have to contend with behaviour issues in primary. Hmm

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 21:33

Don't you just play with the little lovelies all day, Harriet?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 07/07/2021 21:39

I kept a record of class interruptions today. Just had a tally on my desk. One child interrupted me by shouting something irrelevant, or making a silly noise, or saying something like 'ga ga goo goo' really loudly, 47 times. He refuses to stop, won't leave the room, and no one came when I called - everyone useful is isolating. He wasn't alone - another child had over 25 tallies, another 18. The latter two have autism however. The first one is just a shitbag. He laughs if I ask him to stop, at which 10 other children in the class also laugh.

Without a doubt the 'worst' child I've had.

Y-e-e-e-s, that's exactly what it's like. Non-stop fun with playdough and crayons all day long! Grin
HarrietDVane · 07/07/2021 21:45

Oh Rule, that is tough going Sad Not long to go now.

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 21:45

And sand... don't forget the sand.

I have y8 on my timetable next year for the first time in 5 years. I could puke at the thought of such little people.

That sounds rough-I feel for you. I’ve had a class like that where I was literally counting down the hours I had to be with them by the end.
