You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

No, I'm thinking they want to recoup some of their losses. Might as well charge for what you can before you throw them all away.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/07/2021 19:06

I have a load to sell on.

4 days over 5 when one of those days is one lesson is a total piss take - therefore the person has an extra day of their week tied for the grand benefit of one extra non contact lesson Mon-Thurs? I thought mine was bad.

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 19:09

I think the 4 days person has pissed off the timetabler. They're a physicist not teaching a level now....

noblegiraffe · 07/07/2021 19:12

What's a Mumsnet OG?

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 19:13

Someone who tells a trainee teacher poster they're being rude and naive.
Basically, an enemy of educators.

noblegiraffe · 07/07/2021 19:17

Does it stand for anything?

Hercisback · 07/07/2021 19:19

Is that the same poster who has appeared under various guises this academic year? Glad I'm not their mentor.

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 19:21

What? What is this OG? I am confused.

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 19:22

I assumed Old Git but apparently it's "youff speak" for "old school". She thinks we're twats, basically.

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 19:22

Yes Herc
Like Bob, they keep coming back. Why is Bob never absent?

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 19:24

Why are you all speaking in code??

OG can be a compliment. Or that's what my year 11s told me.

The OG is the Original Guy.

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/07/2021 19:26

OG means the original as in, Part One of the franchise series, or whatever. My DC use it a lot.

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/07/2021 19:26

I think both our explanations are part of the same thing?

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 19:28

Yeah, it's Gangsta!

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 19:29

She does not mean it as a compliment!!

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 19:35

Well, she does not know her street speak then bruv.

I can see it could be meant as 'cock of the walk' or a clique but that isn't how my year 11s meant it when they said 'man, that Charles Dicken is the OG' (genuine comment!)

Hercisback · 07/07/2021 19:35

Oh it's definitely not a compliment! What trainee questions the interview lesson like that.... Wow.

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 19:35

*Dickens

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 19:38

MrsH, lola and their OGs.

The Sixty Third Republic - as we glide into staycations the DfE whip up anti-school media storm
MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 19:40

I'd love to be gangsta.
Bob asked me the other day whether I read Shakespeare books in my spare time.

LolaSmiles · 07/07/2021 19:42

It's definitely meant as a dig. Us OGs are so terrible, give useless advice, and don't know what we are talking about, and yet despite us being so abysmal, clueless and unpleasant in multiple ways, it's worth asking advice here.

Wink

Hercisback
One who has gaps in their subject knowledge, if other threads are anything to go by. On other threads I have tried to mention subject knowledge is more than having a degree and that it's about having the right knowledge for the students in front of you, but it didn't go down well.

noblegiraffe · 07/07/2021 19:43

So MrsH and Lola think that they're the Original Gangstas of the MN staffroom 👀

We might need to take this outside....

Piggywaspushed · 07/07/2021 19:44

I mean you have to be careful with me because I am an actual gangster. I know people.

MrsHamlet · 07/07/2021 19:45

Who wants to hold my coat....

Just let me finish my scheme of work first.

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/07/2021 19:45

Is it wurf it, nob??
